As of today, there are 6 magick councils, an international council, and approximately 98 magick governments (out of a total of 195 countries). The most prominent governments in existence are the English Kingdom of Magick, the United Magickal States, German Embassy of Magickal Happenings, and the Egyptian Assembly. Russia is usually run by magickal syndicates and therefore has a disorganized seat on the world stage. China has an organized magickal government, however, they are well hidden from their own government, though they are relatively distant due to Chinese law, so it is difficult for them to truly interact with the others.
The six councils include the African Coalition of the Craft, the Magickal Unity of the Middle East, East Asian Delegates of Sorcery, Pan-Latin Bureau for Magick, North American Board of Magicians, and Magick Council of Greater Europe. India is a prime source of magick, but they do not want any part in councils because they tend to use their magick in a much more natural way. United in Magick is the international council in which nearly every country sits, even those without formal governments.
Together, all of these organizations come together to form our most standard and universal laws and moral codes. They limit our interference in mortal affairs, including wars and law-making, and they interact with mortal governments to make sure that everyone is cooperating with one another. According to agreements, if a magician breaks a mortal law they are sent to a low-security magick prison (one they cannot break out of). If they break a magick law, they are sent to a higher security prison, and the mortal governments are made aware of the most dangerous felons. Also, magicians are no longer allowed near nuclear weaponry. After the atomic bombs, magicians decided to stay out of it. Usually, the international council decrees that governments remain neutral in wars and such. That being said, if magick is suspected in war, there are task forces at the mortal's disposal to extract the magickal threats. These forces are not to be used in an attack, simply to remove a magickal issue. All governments and councils have an informal alliance amongst themselves, and very little trouble is usually caused betwixt them.
