The Greek Phoenix has its origins in an Egyptian deity, Bennu. The Phoenix has similar anatomy to a heron, though mythology has its likeness to that of a rooster. It is a highly respected bird, rare and symbolic of life and death. When a phoenix dies, it bursts into flames, collapses into ashes, and is reborn from those very ashes. These birds are known for their birdsong, magickal abilities of teleportation and their inherent strength.

A Phoenix has fiery yellow and orange feathers, with red legs. It's got deep blue eyes and rose-colored talons. Though rare, there are some accounts of purplish tinted feathers and These creatures are a little larger than an eagle, mostly due to its large peacock-like tail. They can also carry a little over one thousand pounds.

Phoenix tears, feathers, ashes, and talons provide a wide variety of uses. They work well in potions, alchemy, the creation of wands, and in offerings for deities. These very special birds are highly profitable on the black market, and the selling or capture of one will result in a life sentence of the offender without question.

These birds reside in highly spiritual places. Scholars and Zoologists suspect that they can sense the magick of offerings and rituals in such regions. Most commonly, traces of their settling is found in Arabic countries, Greece, most of Asia (including Russia), and Latin/South America. Strangely enough, singular feathers can often be found in their most recent locations. People who find them often describe them as bringing good fortune to their owners.

Governments work hard to protect their safety, sometimes tagging the ones they come in contact with so they can ensure they're flying freely.
