"Jun?"
Her soft voice was laced with shock and surprise. Jun kept his eyes closed, wanting to listen to her. Wanting to hear more from her. Wanting to lose himself in her voice.
He felt her hand touch the skin on his face. Her hand was ice cold, even though the night was warm. Her cold fingers ran down his cheek, and he loved it. He really loved it.
"I'm sorry for what I said the other day. I didn't mean it...I just didn't want you to get hurt. I guess everything I said that day was a lie..."
A lie. He had heard that phrase many times the day he came to look for her.
"I'm dying, Jun. Soon I'll become something of the past. At least I won't hurt you again. I heard you have a girlfriend now...you'll marry her, probably. It's okay to break your promise to me. After all, you can't marry a dead woman..." Seoyul burst into tears, and Jun heard the tears fall heavily onto the blanket.
"I'm sorry. If I hadn't been so stupid, I could have spent the last few months together with you. I wouldn't be here talking to you like this...I don't know how you got in, but it doesn't matter."
"I'm sorry, Jun...I'm so, so, sorry...I broke your heart...I guess this is my punishment...I'm so sorry..."
"Don't cry, darling..." Jun whispered softly, but he knew she could hear it. "Please don't cry..."
"Jun..." he heard her say.
He opened his eyes and looked at her. Her pupils were a deeper, brighter shade of red than before, and her nails were sharp, like claws.
"Darling..." he whispered softly. "Darling."
After all that, he knew he still loved her. The love that he had felt for her was being rekindled, and it was burning in his chest.
After all, she was still the only woman he could call darling...
Seoyul's eyes widened. She looked like she wanted to hug him, but she didn't. Instead, she said, "You can't call me that."
"Why?" He asked, reaching out for her hand, but she pulled it out of reach.
"You have a girlfriend. I'm not the one in your heart anymore. I am no longer yours, and you are no longer mine..." Seoyul choked on her tears a little.
She wrung her hands together. "All because of what I said that day, I threw away everything I had with you. You obviously moved on. Not that it matters to me. I didn't ask you to come today to talk about your love life."
Jun said nothing. How could he tell his dying soulmate that he still loved her all this while?
"I suppose Minghao told you the news. I don't have that long left to live. I have two weeks, three if I'm lucky." Seoyul sighed. "So, last week I wrote my will. I'm giving you some of my possessions. Minghao will bring it to you after my demise. Or if you wish, you could attend my burial." She wiped away the tears that had fallen.
"Possessions?" He asked.
"My money, simply put." She confirmed.
"It'll be enough for you and your girlfriend to get married and live happily for thirty years. My money is worth much more back in the human world."
Jun's jaw dropped. Thirty years was a long time.
"When you said you were rich, I didn't know you meant that much."
Seoyul cracked a smile. "I don't like to talk about my wealth anyway. It makes greedy men go after me, courting me for my money. That's why I fell for you, I guess. I was looking for someone who didn't care how much I had in my bank account. Someone who would court me because I'm myself. And then I foolishly threw everything away."
