Jun felt himself becoming lighter. Power surged through him as he was being pushed towards the top of the vortex...

"Jun?!"

Seoyul stared at the lithe figure emerging from the swirling vortex which had just swallowed her lover.

Minghao grasped her arm to prevent her from dashing forward. "Be careful. That Jun doesn't really seem like Jun."

"But that's his aura! I can feel it!"

"His aura is shrouded in darkness, Yullie. Try sensing him again...something happened to him."

The beautiful figure floated to the floor. He slowly stood up.

"Jun...!" Seoyul was appalled at what had happened to him.

Jun had changed. Dark clouds swirled his body. Dark wings had emerged from his back; angel's wings, but black in colour. His eyes had a dark glow to them.

Seori was fascinated.

"Goodness, Seoyul...look at your boyfriend, he's absorbed the power of the Darkness!"

Minghao scowled. "I thought you wanted the Darkness's powers for yourself."

"I can always make do, Minghao. A human with power...human minds are so simple, easy to manipulate. I could easily will him to do whatever I wanted." Seori laughed at the thought. Minghao's eyes flashed with anger. Seoyul tried to advance towards Jun, but she was pushed away by Seori.

Seori made her way towards Jun, who had made no reaction this entire time. "Come here, Jun. We shall create a new world, you and I," she told him. "One where the two of us shall reign..."

Jun's eyes very slowly met hers. Seori smiled brighter, hoping he would give her what she wanted.

Jun howled and punched his fist into the icy floor. Instantly purple vines shot out and wrapped tightly around Seori's hands and legs, binding her. Jun eyed her up and down with an almost predatory stare, as if Seori was his prey and he was the predator.

"Jun?" Seoyul asked tentatively. His gaze immediately landed on hers.

A low growl erupted from his throat and he dashed, running out of the cave at a blinding speed none of them had expected. Seoyul ran after him all the way to the cave's entrance. Minghao quickly followed her as well.

"He's...gone." Seoyul was staring at Jun, who was now flying away on his newly gained wings. He flew towards the peak of the mountain the cave was situated under, slowly leaving their line of sight.

"I'm going to find him." Seoyul declared.

Minghao nodded in agreement. "You better go before it turns dark. I'll call my research team and ask them to conduct some checks on this area. The Darkness must have been here for a while for Seori to find it. I'll keep an eye on Seori too."

And so, Seoyul headed up the mountain to find her lover.

Since he had emerged from the vortex, Jun knew he had changed. His body had changed drastically; he now had wings that could actually let him fly. He could feel that his soul had changed too. He now felt darkness. He felt power rushing through his entire being.

Jun sat down at the peak of the mountain. He could stay for a while. However he felt the impending danger of possessing such an extreme power. People would try to capture him, kill him so they could beat the power out of him. Or worse, force him into being their slave so he could use his powers to do their evil.

Brushing his fingers on the rocky ground, he channeled his powers and slowly, purple vines grew from the floor and created a dome around him. This would protect him for a while. He could buy time to think about what to do next while protected.

It was highly unlikely he could go back to living a regular human life. His modelling career was over, the wings would make him look like some mythical creature come to life on the photographs. Seoyul would probably still love him, but he feared that one day the power would become too much and cause him to lose all control.

Jun felt crazy.

He touched the back of his shirt. It was torn in two places, where the wings had forcefully emerged. His pants were also ripped in several places.

Jun was hungry. When it fell dark, he would have to get food, he supposed. He could hunt, but he had never done that before. He could try to look for fish if there was a lake nearby. He could...

"Junhui."

He recognised the voice instantly. There could only be one person who has the power to make him go crazy with just their voice. His heart beat quickly at the thought of her.

"Jun, I know you're in there."

He didn't respond. The vines still covered him, not retreating one bit.

"It's okay. It's just me. No one's going to hurt you," Seoyul assured him.

"I could hurt you," he finally replied.

Jun could sense her confusion. "What?"

He sighed. "Darling, you saw what I did to your sister. I could do worse. I know I can do worse. It would be better if you stayed away from me." He choked saying the last bit.

On the other side, Seoyul paused. "It'll be fine."

She heard Jun laugh humorlessly. "You don't understand, do you?"

"What? What do I not know?"

Jun smiled grimly to himself, sighing inwardly.

"The Darkness' powers are so strong, it can turn anyone from powerless to powerful. Anyone who manages to claim its powers becomes an ever-dangerous monster. I am a monster, Seoyul. People will hunt me either for my powers or to remove the threat I pose to the world."

Seoyul opened her mouth, then closed it. She didn't know what to say.

"I...I never thought of that," she admitted a few moments later.

Jun stared through the thick wall of vines he had placed to shield himself. He could feel the pain in her heart; they were still bonded no matter what.

"It's best if you stay away from me, darling. It's the best for the both of us."
