{ M I R I E L }WE HAD REALLY managed to get ourselves into some trouble as we sat there tied up in sacks and roasting on a fire. I was currently uncomfortably close to thorins face and being crushed by Kili. And at the moment there seemed to be no way to get out of this predicament. The three trolls in front of us were currently arguing about he best way to eat a dwarf, clearly unaware of me, while the dwarves were arguing about how to escape. The only ones out of our company who were not speaking were Thorin, Bilbo, and I. Arguing did not seem to make a lick of sense at the moment because as of right now there was nothing that could be done.
"Never mind the seasoning; we ain't got all night! Dawn ain't far away, so let's get a move on. I don't fancy being turned to stone," with that comment Bilbo seemed to jump right up as he managed to sit upright then pushed himself up so we was standing.
"Wait! You are making a terrible mistake."
Dori called out, "you can't reason with them, they're half-wits!" This once again got the dwarves fired up and I could feel Thorin sigh.
"Uh, I meant with the, uh, with, uh, with the seasoning," Bilbo stumbled over his words clearly improvising.
Bert, the troll, became very curious at this statement, "what about the seasoning?"
"Well have you smelt them? You're going to need something stronger than sage before you plate this lot up," this instantly got the dwarves arguing once more, but I became more curious with what he was doing.
The dumber of the trolls, Tom, started questioning Bilbo until he was cut off by Bert, "Shut up, and let the, uh, flurgaburburrahobbit talk."
"Uh, th--the secret to cooking dwarf is um-," but every time he tried to talk the trolls would simply cut him off, "ye--yes, I'm telling you, the secret is... to skin them first!" What on middle earth Bilbo?
"What a load of rubbish! I've eaten plenty with their skins on. Scuff them, I say, boots and all." He picked Bombur up, which was a feet on its own, he was one of the few dwarves who genuinely was kind to me but he was a rather large man. William held him up to his face mouth open, saliva sticking to the sides of his mouth, as his large discolored tongue reached to touch the poor dwarf. Bombur was screaming in fear. The rest of the dwarves were scrambling to get loose.
It was in that moment that I realized what Bilbo was doing, I saw Gandalf slip by in the background covered by the trees. He was buying time, I couldn't take it, "not that one!" I yelled out not really knowing where to go with it.
William halted what he was doing, sending a questioning gaze my way, "yeah not him, uh- he's infected!"
Tom became confused, "you what?"
"Yeah, he's got... worms in his tubes," Bilbo added with a cringe, William quickly dropped Bombur right on his head, "In--in fact they all have, they're in--infested with parasites. It's a terrible business; I wouldn't risk it, I really wouldn't." The dwarves all started yelling out and complaining and whining about how Bilbo would ever say something like that.
I turned my head up to Thorin, completely forgetting how close I was, and nearly knocking faces, "Bilbo is trying to by time, Gandalf is in the trees trying to do something," Thorin looked down at me, our noses nearly touching, with scrunched eyebrows he seemed to go against his inner battle and trust me. He kicked the dwarves on the ground at his feet and they got the idea.
