KING UNDER THE mountain. He definitely looked like a king, and hadn't changed much since I last saw him. One of the only things having changed is the addition of almost silver streaks of hair. Now he has no idea who I am, but I knew his father, and many before him.

"Gandalf. I thought you said this place would be easy to find. I lost my way, twice. Wouldn't have found it at all had it not been for that mark on the door." I couldn't help but smile. Oh the stubbornness. Thorin then went on to interrogate Bilbo, making the hobbit more flustered than he once was before. Might as well make my presence known.

"Now I do not think this nice hobbit has the exact skills in which you are looking, but he may surprise you," I voiced from the back of the room. I had elected to put my hood back up, I knew his distaste of elves.

The sound of my voice drew all attention off of Thorin, and drew his attention as well. Not only was I an unfamiliar voice, but the voice of a female. "Who are you?" Thorin loud assertive voice broke through the silence.

I had always had a flare for the dramatics. I took my hood off and made direct eye contact with him, "and why do you need to know."

"An elf," I could hear the anger in his voice.

"Now now, do I really look like a true elf Thorin son of Thráin son of Thror?"

"You know who I am, yet I don't know who you are. I hardly deem that fair."

"My name is Miriel, but I am known by another name."

Bilbo looked up at this revelation, "the silver rider." I looked down at Bilbo, and gave him a soft smile.

"The silver rider is a woman?" Dwalin spoke up, rather surprised might I add. Now I hated more than anything being underestimated, especially since I know more ways to disarm and kill than they do. So with that comment, I whipped out a dagger and shot it across the room. "Blimey," Balin said, as it had landed a mere centimeters away from Dawlins ear.

"Do not underestimate me, I know more ways to kill you than you could ever dream up."

I knew no one really suspected the silver rider to be a woman, there were some who knew but I had long given up that job, as I had left the dunedain rangers a couple months ago.

"I no longer go by that name, so Miriel will do."

Everyone then made their way into the dining room once more, so Thorin would have the opportunity to eat. He turned to Gandalf, "I do not want her here, I do not need more people to worry about."

"You will not have to concern yourself over me, I am more than capable of taking care of myself. Think of me as nothing more than protection for this here hobbit along this quest," I interjected into the conversation.

Everything about Thorin's demeanor turned dark and he glared at the wizard, "you told her about the quest."

"You're going on a quest?" Bilbo piped up.

Gandalf looked up from the map at him with kind eyes, "Bilbo, my dear fellow, let us have a little more light." He then brought back a candle and examined the map himself.
