why is he crying?

 
i stood up from my place and crouched in front of his seat, trying my best to comfort him.

 
"h-hey, are you okay?" i say, waving my hand infront of him.

 
"h-huh?"

 
"it's junnie, love."

 
he started wiping his tears and stood up. i offer him my handkerchief and he takes it.

 
i mean, i wanted to see him today. but i didn't expect that i'll see him like this.

 
"this is pretty embarrassing, huh?" the boy chuckles, still wiping his tears. "why are you here anyways?"

 
"not as embarrassing as the day when you saw me balling my eyes out on the street."

 
he nods, still sniffling and hands back my handkerchief.

 
"you can keep that, i already have yours." i exclain, not realizing what i said.

 
my god, i sounded like a creep.

 
"not that-i wanted to keep it or anything, it's just that i haven't washed it yet and i'd gladly give it back as soon as i can-"

 
"you can keep it. i'll keep this." he holds it up as he chuckles some more.

 
awkward silence ensues.

 
"umm, so," i start. "wanna talk about it?" i ask, trying not to be too personal.

 
"no, sorry."

 
umm, crap, how can i comfort him?

 
"are you free this afternoon? i'd like to cheer you up from what ever is bothering you."

 
he hesitates,

 
"come onnnn, i haven't seen you all day. don't you miss me?"

 
i'm such a dork.

 
"i have almond milk for you, two bottles even." i hold up the plastic bag while smiling cheekily and hoping he'll say yes.

 
"sure, alright." and with a swift motion, he grabs the bag.

 
his face lights up again and i'm reminded of his very cute almond-shaped eyes that turn into crescents as soon as his face crinkles.

 
"well, okey-dokey." i poke his face and turn around to lead the way

 
"okey-dokey?" i'm such a dork part two.

 
"whadd'ya want to do, hmm? we could maybe stay here in the park and play chess-or is that too lame? or maybe feed the ducks by the lake, or we could go see a movie!" i turn around to see his reaction.

 
his eyes widen and he nods while sipping his milk, i hadn't realized that he opened one and was already drinking. adorable.

 
"let's go see that new movie 'eyes'," he replied.

 
"sure."
