The walk home for Felix was long and cold. But none of that seemed to matter much to the boy after everything that had just happened. Nothing usually happens to Felix in his normal everyday life, yet he feels like the past few weeks have been a rollercoaster and a nightmare altogether. His surroundings start to go a bit blurry and Felix's head feels dizzy. The overload of emotions are making his head hurt. Should he feel sad or angry? His emotions couldn't keep up with all the events.
At this point, Felix's body and brain metaphorically go 'fuck it' and combust.
Felix comes to a halt in his tracks and starts yelling. Not in the way you'd imagine though. He wasn't shouting because of sadness.
He was laughing.
Felix was tearing up from laughter. He couldn't control it, laughs keep escaping his throat. High pitched cries and cackles are released as he throws his head back. His breath is thick in the air so you can see the puffs of hot air in the cold surroundings.
Currently, there weren't any people around to witness him. This is a good thing, but it would also be nice if someone were around to comfort him.
A tingling feeling ran through his body as he clenched his fists. He feels weak and tired, he wants to sit down and stop but he knows he's close to his house. He slowly calms down as his laughs turn to exasperated and choked grunts. He shuts his eyes for a few seconds and recomposes himself.
I'm not crazy, I'm not crazy, I'm not crazy.
Felix feels the need to repeat that in his head. Obviously what he just did was not a normal thing for him to do. It was quite strange, not only for an onlooker but he found it weird as well. A reader might assume this was a sort of mental breakdown, which Felix has not experienced many times. But, he did feel a bit better, so who's to say it wasn't a good thing.
As the boy approaches his house, he sees an unfamiliar car sitting in his driveway. A slick black sports car. Felix has never seen the car before, nor does he know why it would be parked in his driveway.
The lights inside seem to be on, that means his mom is home.
Shit!
Felix totally forgot about how he never told his mom about the concert. He hadn't thought he'd be out until late. He planned to be home before his mom was done with work. There was no avoiding going inside. He had no where else to go, so he walks through the door head on, awaiting whatever his mother has in store for him.
"Mom? I'm back..." Felix sees the kitchen lights on and assumes his mom is sitting at the table in anger.
When he finds her, he sees something he wasn't expecting. Instead of his mother sitting angrily, he sees her looking quite nervous. Felix shifts his view beside her to see a man sitting there.
"Felix, dear, you're home! Where have you been?" His mom stands and comes towards him. She grabs his shoulder and steps to his side. Her hands are a bit shaky and he can see some perspiration on her forehead.
"Can't you see we have a guest? Please greet him."
"Hi." Felix nods slightly at the man.
