JOSH USUALLY PEGGED HIMSELF FOR BEING THE BAD INFLUENCE, BUT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HIS LIFE HE WASN'T. The second the police sirens were heard it seemed as though everyone was trying to get out of the house as quickly as possible, except for Daniel and the rest of his unconscious friends. Josh glanced over at Paul who was leaning against the wall, the boy was wiping the blood off his hands and he didn't show any signs of nervousness.
Josh opened his mouth to speak with him but was stopped when someone grabbed his arm. He turned and came across a nervous-looking Embry.
"We have to go." his voice was shaky and his body was trembling. He was freaking out, not only did he deceive his mother by sneaking out of the house to go to some party. But now 'said party' was about to be raided by the police?
"Go home then," Josh told him. Embry frowned, Josh's words implied that he wasn't going to come with him which was worrying.
"You're not coming?"
"Someone has to stick around, take the fall for this crap," Josh told him, as he shrugged. Part of himself knew that if he got in trouble the word would probably get up to his father and mother, and they'd realize that keeping him here wasn't working. Josh wasn't going to change because this was who he was.
"You can't be serious. You can't stay here. You'll get in some serious trouble." Embry tried to convince the boy to come with him, but Josh stood his ground. He had his mindset. Still, as a friend, Embry didn't want to see Josh get himself in trouble when he knew it could be avoided. "The sirens are getting closer. Josh, we have to —"
"Embry, go home. Before they realize that everyone's escaping out the back door. It's my fault you're in this mess anyway." he told him as he grabbed the boy's shoulders and turned him around. Embry tried to fight back but Josh continued to push him towards the backdoor.
"What about you?" Embry asked after Josh shoved him out the door. The boy just smirked before winking at him. Embry's eyes widened at the action.
"I'm a badass remember, I'll be fine," he reassured him before shutting the door on his face. Embry frowned before turning around and disappearing into the woods when he saw the blue and red lights getting closer.
Josh placed his hand in his pocket as he walked back into the house. He stepped over the body on the ground (Daniel) and opened cooler.
"Why'd you kicked out your friend?" Josh heard Paul ask him. The boy stood up as he opened the can and turned to him. He leaned against the counter as he drank.
