HIS WORDS BOTHER HIM. Even when Embry was gone Josh thought about what he said. He'd called Josh a scrub, and criticized how he lived his life; or at least that how it felt to Josh. He was angry, but not at Embry surprisingly. Instead, he was angry with himself. What the hell was wrong with him? Could he not get anything in his life right?
"Some people are just doomed to be failures," Josh spoke to himself out loud. He was one of those people, he concluded. He was nothing but a bottom feeder. He was a leech, a parasite. The world didn't need him, and yet here he was wasting a life that could have belonged to someone else.
"To hell with this." Josh got up from his bed and stormed out of his bedroom. He made his way downstairs where he saw his brother sleeping soundly on the couch, his head was resting on Emily's lap as she read a book. The woman looked up when she heard Josh coming.
"You're friend Embry left in a hurry. What happened?" she asked him, her voice held concern which just made Josh feel even angrier.
"It's none of your business!" he snapped before storming out of the house. Emily turned her head and watched him leave. She sighed and woke Sam up, the young man looked up at his fiancee.
"Hm?"
"You need to talk to him. He needs someone, and you're his brother," she told him. Sam frowned he knew that what he was doing was childish, he was the adult in the situation but he didn't know what else to do. It wasn't as if he had a handbook on how to handle moody teenagers that were raised by their scumbag of a father.
"I try to talk to him, but he doesn't listen." Sam sat up as he rubbed his face. He glanced over at Emily and saw that she had her arms crossed as she glared at him. He frowned as he nodded.
"Okay, I'll try again."
"Thank you."

Josh stared out at the water in front of him. He saw how the waves pulled up along the beach wetting the sand and the tips of his toes. It was cold, but he'd left the house in a hurry so he was left to just deal with it. There were goosebumps all along his body, and he was shivering.
"Are you an idiot? Do you realize how cold it is?" he heard a voice behind him. Josh glance to his side he saw Paul taking a seat beside him before he threw a sweater at the younger boy's head.
