Jungkook
The two males got into the elder's car and drove off to the funeral agencies to where Mr Kim was at. When they parked outside, Taehyung told Jungkook to wait in the car so he could be alone with his father.
Of course, Jungkook respected that and waited in the car as he passed time by being on his phone until he saw two men exiting the building.
He stepped out of the car when they were close enough. "You okay?" Jungkook asked the elder, who smiled in return with a small nod.
Mr Kim glanced at him questioningly. "And who's this?" he asked.
"Jeon Jungkook," Jungkook introduced himself as he stepped forward with his hand out. "I'm sorry that we're meeting under these circumstances."
"Are you Taehyung's boyfriend?" he asked directly, which caused both of the young males to blush.
"Uhm, no, sir, I'm a friend and neighbour at work," he replied. He wanted to be more than that, but after one (unofficial) date, it, unfortunately, didn't determinate they were more than just friends. They hadn't even talked about how close they are, which was something Jungkook wanted to conform during their date but didn't have time to.
Mr Kim seemed to be suspicious still. "Well, boyfriend or not, we got some stuff to do now. Son, come with me."
Taehyung obediently nodded his head and was about to follow his father, but Jungkook quickly grabbed his arm before he started walking. "You okay? You sure you don't want me along? I can stay with you all day," he asked.
Taehyung shook his head. "That's okay, Jungkookie. Thank you, really, for everything you've done for me. I'll be okay and I'll just help my father, then I'll be back at work," he smiled, though the younger could tell he was forcing it; there was nothing sincere about it, and Jungkook wanted to push further, but as he glanced over at Mr Kim and his glare towards him, he decided to back off.
"Just promise me something," Jungkook whispered, "call me if you need anything. And I mean anything. And text me when you're home again."
Taehyung nodded. "I promise." And with that, he let go of his arm and he entered his father's car.
Jungkook drove the car back to Taehyung's house since it was his car after all and parked it. He then went to take the bus back to his own flat to shower and get changed before heading for work. He had already explained the situation to Yoongi, who said it was okay for him to come later.
Throughout the day, Jungkook was eagerly waiting for Taehyung to contact him again. He despited the idea of leaving Taehyung. It's not like he didn't trust his father, he just didn't want Taehyung to be by himself once he got home again. He'd be all alone for the first time since the news about his mother.
"Jungkook?" he heard his name being called as he was back in the kitchen to serve a table.
"Yes?" he replied as he turned around. It was Yoongi.
"Someone's here to see you."
Jungkook nodded as he walked past him, only to see Kim Taehyung standing by the staircase at the restaurant.
"Taehyungie hyung?" he said surprised. He thought he'd call him once he was home, or at least send a text message, but he surely didn't think he'd drop by the restaurant.
"Hey," he smiled softly at him.
Jungkook immediately approached him and hugged him. "You okay?" he asked.
"I'm fine, Jungkookie," Taehyung chuckled sweetly. "Are you available for a moment?"
Jungkook nodded. "Yes, just give me a second," he said as he went to Yoongi and asked him to cover for him until Taehyung would leave again, which he agreed to.
Once they headed up to the office, they sat down on the sofa.
"We got the date for the funeral," Taehyung started as he folded his hands together. Jungkook wanted to reach forward to hold them but restrained himself for doing so. "It's happening on Saturday at three o'clock."
"That's just five days until now," Jungkook commented.
"Yes," the elder replied, "we'll be closing the café since the other's will be there." Taehyung glanced up at him for a moment before staring back at the floor. "I was hoping you'd come too. To be there for me, and my mother. She liked you and I'm sure she'd appreciate you coming."
Jungkook was surprised to hear this, but he felt happy. "Of course I'll be there," he smiled softly as he placed a hand on the other's shoulder. "She was very sweet to me, and I want to be able to be there for you too."
Taehyung smiled back. "Thank you, Jungkookie. I'll leave now so you can go back to work."
He stood up, but Jungkook quickly followed as he grabbed his hand. "Are you going home now?" he asked.
"Yes, I'll go home to prepare my suit and then get some rest. I'll be back to work tomorrow as well."
Jungkook nodded. "Rest well," he smiled as he gave him a quick hug before the elder exited the restaurant.
As Jungkook returned back to work, he couldn't help but let his thoughts wander back to the elder boy. He felt so sorry for him, but he didn't want to push himself onto him and rather let him come to him when he needed to himself.
Taehyung
The moment Taehyung returned back to his home and locked the door behind him, he let himself slid down the door to the floor. He hugged his knees, crying. He hadn't been alone until now since his mother died and he couldn't completely let go.
His mother was everything to him. The moment he knew of his mother's sickness, he knew this day would come sooner or later, but he wanted to push it away so he wouldn't waste time to worry. He originally wanted to stay with his mother in the states when she was at the hospital, but she refused. "You have to take care of our café, Taehyungie," she had told him, "who else is going to take over the family business? I'll be fine, so continue with your life here in Seoul and live with no regrets. Enjoy work and enjoy love, okay? And don't forget to tell me when you've fallen in love, I want to meet that lucky boy when that day comes."
Taehyung punched the wall beside him in frustration. He cried out loudly, not caring how loud he was being as he was alone either way. There was so much more to tell his mother he hadn't said yet. There were still conversations he wanted to have, questions he wanted to ask, stories to tell, and advice to ask. He wanted to tell her how proud of he was over the café and how well off they were, despite the area and numerous cafés and restaurants nearby. He wanted to rant about the rude costumers he encountered. He wanted to tell the funny stories of his and his colleagues. He wanted to tell her how a new boy in his life suddenly had made him change. He wanted to ask for her advice to deal with his feelings. And, finally, he wanted to boast about the boy he had fallen in love with. Although she had already met Jungkook, he never confirmed his feelings for the younger boy to his mother, she only suspected it.
It made him feel guilty for his secrets. He was just confused and shy at first, but he knew for certain now. But it was too late to tell her now. She was dead. And there was nothing he could do about it.
