Chapter 18

I got home and lay Gracie down for her nap. I heard the handle on the door open, I didn't think I'd ever be able to be confident in my own home anymore, everything just become so scary. I felt like I couldn't trust anyone. That's not how I wanted to live my life. I heard the foot steps slowly walk towards Gracie's room door. I peeped my head through the door to see Shawn with two coffee cups and a bag of doughnuts, "Hi baby, I'm sorry I'm late, I wanted to surprise you before you could surprise me." He passes me the coffee cup. "Vanilla bean latte, your favorite" I smiled as the hotness of the cup heated up my cold hands. It reminded me of when Shawn proposed. "So, what's this?" Shawn picked up the painting Gracie gave me before. "Gracie painted it in day-care, its a butterfly. She's so good at art!" Shawn was smiling at the piece of paper. "Our little girl is getting so big!" Just as Shawn said that I heard Gracie crawl out of bed and hit the floor. I walked into her room, she was on the floor looking up at me, her arms stretched out facing towards me. I walked over and picked her up. "Did you have a nice nap Princess?" She nodded and she took her small hand and rubbed her eyes. I took her to Shawn. "Daddy! Welcome home." I put her in Shawn's arms and she gave him a massive hug." He started asking her about how her day was as I got her one of the doughnuts that Shawn had brought home. "Gracie, how would you like to be babysat by Dillon as me and daddy go out for a while.?" I told her as I passed her the doughnut. Just after her first bite her mouth was covered in chocolate. She nodded excitedly.

A few hours later, I heard three loud knocks at the door. "One second" I shouted after looking myself in the mirror and applying mascara. "Hi Dillon, and uhh, Dillon's friend! Babe! Hurry up we need to leave soon!" I hurried down the stairs to see Dillon and Jess waiting at the end of the stair case. I glared over to them thinking 'What the hell, she's not meant to be here." Shawn passed me my coat and we left. "Bye Gracie!" I said which echoed through the halls. We got in the car and we started to drive off.

We started travelling to the old open field where the movie would've been. We drove into a McDonalds and ordered two large fries and two milkshakes, chocolate and vanilla. We carried on driving. "The movie starts at six pm babe, we are on half past five, so we have a little bit of time to get there." We carried on driving until we got there. We passed a bunch of places, reminiscing all the good times of when we were younger. We eventually got there and got the blankets out of the boot. We lowered the seats so that it could be like a bed. I opened the bag with the fries inside of it, Shawn clicked the cup holder so that it would hold our drinks. The fries were still warm, although the drinks were still cold. The movie started and Shawn wrapped me up in his arms and the blankets. I smiled at him then watched the movie. After the movie finished, I started to fall to sleep. Shawn picked me up which woke me up. "Sorry I didn't mean to wake you up dear. Just sit in the front seat so I know your safe with your seat belt on. I went back to sleep after the car started again. It was such a great date night which we should've done more often.

"Layla, we are home now." Shawn said to me whilst giving me soft kiss on my cheek. I still felt too lucky to have him. I got out of the car and headed for the door. I walked in and to my surprise Gracie was on the couch. With Dillon beside her, and Jess on the other side. They were all asleep. The Sponge Bob movie was on. They must've fallen asleep to the movie. I put my finger to my lips in way to show Shawn that he had to be quiet as they were asleep. We walked over to the Jess and Dillon and woke them up. We waved them goodbye and then put Gracie to sleep. Not long after, me and Shawn both went to bed. "Thank you for today Shawn, its the most fun I've had for a while." He nodded "It was good to get out the house and spend time with you. Like just us, and not having to be parents as it can be hard caring for someone other than yourself. It reminded me of old times." He smiled as he gave me a goodnight kiss, he turned around to the other side of the bed and went to sleep.

I couldn't sleep. I still was wondering what was going on between Jess and Dillon. I knew Dillon was bisexual, he wouldn't of cheated on Bailey, right? I got up as I couldn't sleep, I went downstairs to go watch some shows, I had the idea that they would make me more tired. I got downstairs and put on 'Riverdale'. Just before sitting down, I went to the kitchen to get a drink and some snacks to snack on whilst watching the show. I got some crisps and then went to the fridge. I open the fridge and got out the cold bottle of water. As I turned around I heard my phone go off. I looked at it and it was Jess. Did I really want to pick up? I had to find out if there was something going on between her and Dillon. Were they an item? I picked up the phone "Hello?" It was silent at first. "Hi Charlotte. I wanted to know if you want to get more coffee with me a Dillon as it was so fun last time." Her and Dillon, I think it was just a way to make me the third wheel in my own friendship. "I'm okay, but you could still go with Dillon." She sighed and then replied to me "Oh, that's okay. Ill speak to you another time. Toodles!" Who says toodles anymore honestly. I sat down and pressed play on 'Riverdale' I had to catch up before season 4 came out. I watched a few episodes before getting really tired. My eyes started to ache from watching the TV. I closed my eyes for a few seconds. Before I knew it I was asleep.
