The Plan

The unwanted criminal lay on his bed as he looked out of the window. His warm breath misted the icy glass as he anxiously clutched onto his baton.

Any minute now, he would receive a notification from the beloved savior of Paris. He didn't know why, but he was nervous.

He was drowning in a relentless sea of fear and doubt. She was perfect in every way, and everyone loved her for it.

He couldn't compete with that... He needed her now more than ever before, and he just hoped and prayed that she would be willing to give him a chance.

She wasn't even his partner, but there was something about her that made him feel like he could trust her. Her ever enduring kindness was something that he would hold onto for the rest of his life. Deep down he knew that she would help him, but a small part of him was still tourmented by his past failures.

The anxiety was rising by the second, and no amount of rational thinking was enough to shake him from his mental suffering.

He was instantly brought back to the present by a soft beep, indicating that he had received a message. His chest tightened when the noise flooded his eardrums. His heart raced as his mind began to run wild on adrenaline.

His eyes instantly scanned the tiny screen; searching for the notification panel.

He took in a deep breath and closed his eyes in anticipation. In just a few seconds from now, he would finally get to see if his lame attempts were actually worth it.

He opened his eyes and clicked on the mail icon.

As his eyes scanned the message, he could feel the anxiety begin to take an unnatural hold on his frail heart.

As he finished reading the letter, he relaxed ever so slightly.

Chat held onto his chest as he looked out of the window once again. He would have to go out into the realm of tormenting fears, where he was hated by thousands.

He hated this so much, but he needed to do this before it was too late.

***

Minutes passed and still no sign of the spotted heroine. Chat Noir's faith was beginning to fade away as his disappointed eyes searched the emotionless void that lingered beside him.

He sighed as he looked into the far distance. There wasn't a soul in sight. He felt a little lonely, but on the other hand, he felt rather empowered.

The world was truly a warped sense of utter hopelessness disguised as a perception of untainted beauty. He was dying, but at the same time he was living. More than anything, he wished for a different life, but deep down he knew that reality was incredibly unforgiving at times.

Eventually, just before his faith was gone forever, she appeared. Every ounce of negativity was instantly replaced by a single drop of relief. He was not forgotten, and that made his heart jump for joy.

He smiled ever so slightly as the red silhouette came closer until all of her delicate features were highlighted.

It had been a while since he had last seen her, but even after all this time, she was still just as daring as he remembered.

Everything about her was left unchanged, but there was something different about her. He tried searching for the answers, but his attempts proved meaningless.

As she looked into his unsure eyes, her cheeks appeared to conceal a faint pink glow. Chat could only assume it was from embarrassment.

She gave him a sweet smile. He felt a little awkward, but smiled nonetheless.
