Lonely Dinner

The soothing melody of Adrien's song echoed in the background as he held onto his colorful bracelet. His eyes scanned the piece of jewelry as he sat beside the dinner table, waiting for Marinette to show up.

An hour had gone by, yet there was still no sign of the blue-eyed girl. Chat Noir felt his heart ache as the betral  quickly became apparent.

She had broken her promise and he couldn't believe it. He spent hours preparing a beautiful dinner for just the two of them, yet his attempts proved meaningless. He was going to reveal his true self to her and tell her that he loved her with all of his heart, but it didn't even matter anymore.

She left him without a reason. The unwanted stray couldn't help but feel a mix between anger and sorrow.

He felt the bitterness turn to frustration as the hours only seemed to pass him by. His frail mind couldn't understand why she would do this to him. He felt so sure that she was going to be there, but he was wrong.

A crease formed between his brows as he clutched onto the only piece of Marinette that remained. Where was she and why did she leave him like that?

He blew out the tiny candles and covered the cold food that decorated the red table.

He plunged into an empty seat as the defeat instantly began to show itself. He sighed and looked up at the starry night sky as countless questions began to flood his mind.

The beautiful girl with the very mysterious eyes, who had stolen his broken heart was nowhere to be found. Deep down he doubted that anyone could ever love the antagonist of the story. But now he understood.

People like him would forever be despised by the rest of the world. People like him didn't deserve love or forgiveness. People like him deserved pain and rejection, and that's exactly what he got.

He should have never let himself become so vulnerable in the first place. He should have masked his pain with a cold heart, just like his father had done. Why did he give himself away so easily?

But maybe... Just maybe, there was still a chance... Perhaps she will come running into his arms any moment now and smother him with kisses as she begs for forgiveness. Or maybe she honestly forgot?

He didn't know what to think, but honestly, he hoped it was the latter option. Something didn't quite add up, and this whole situation felt wrong. He didn't know why, but he could definitely sense it. He needed answers, and soon!

A single rain drop fell onto the bridge of his nose as he still continued to stare into the far distance. He seemed unfazed by the sudden disruption and merely wiped the drop away.

He was used to the untainted wrath of the elements, and frankly he quite enjoyed it. He took in a deep breath of fresh rain as he reached for a single black umbrella.

She was definitely not coming, and that broke his heart. The only person who he was able to love didn't even have the decency to give him a reason.

With one hand tightly wrapped around the icy handle of his umbrella, he left the depressing scene and disappeared into the gloomy darkness.

Adrien rubbed his tired eyes as he lay cuddled up between the mounds of fluffy blankets. He could feel his body ache and just wished for his strength to be returned.

He was weaker than ever, but that wasn't even the worst part. The worst part was knowing that his body was deteriorating at an alarming rate, yet he couldn't even do anything about it.
