"Shisui-kun, are you alright?" The sixteen-year-old smiled sweetly at the growing young man across from her.

Shisui and Y/n were having dinner at her favorite restaurant. It was part of Shisui's birthday present to the precious girl. They had been dating for almost a year. In the life of a Shinobi, you never let any opportunity slip away, including one of happiness.

"Hm?" Shisui was lost in thought. Then, looking at the h/c, he answered, "Oh, I'm fine. I'm just a little tired."

"Let's eat!" She suggested, "Then, I'll walk you home." She avoided the apparent fact that Shisui was growing more and more distant every day.

Shisui gave her a smile before replying, "I'm supposed to walk you home."

"I won't argue with you." Shisui gave Y/n a laugh at her reply. But then, even though she knew it was forced, she did the same.

That was the beginning of Shisui drifting from Y/n. Itachi had started to do the same as well. They both hardened their hearts. They pushed everyone away. They threw themselves into the life of the ANBU and growing Clan leaders. The Uchihas' were always secretive, but Y/n knew there was something significant going on in the shadows.

She could never prepare herself for what was coming.

"Y/n?" The male's voice caught the Kunoichi off guard.

Y/n turned at hearing her name. She thought she knew who the voice belonged to, but she was still surprised to see him standing there. Kakashi Hatake. They hadn't spoken in a while, only seeing one another in passing at the ANBU barracks.

The man had grown into just that, a MAN. He was taller. Chest and shoulders broader. What had remained the same: his single ink-black orb and his unruly silver hair. She still wanted to touch that damned hair.

"Oh, Kakashi-san, what can I help you with?" Y/n turned to face him fully when he stopped before her.

"San?" He arched his single brow.

"You don't like sensei." She drew out the final word and giggled lightly as she saw the light dust of pink from under the cloth on his cheek.

'Cute'

"Alright," He cleared his throat, "I was wondering how your mission went."

Strange, he never asked Y/n about her missions. Ever. Y/n shrugged before answering, "It was fine. Target captured. I left him with Ibiki."

"Your report said you were injured?" Kakashi pressed as he scanned the girl. She had grown too. She was becoming a woman with each passing day.

'Why does he care?' She shrugged the thought off and answered him, "Nothing major. I took a fall from a tree, the branch snapped. Scratched my legs up."

She kicked a leg out, showing the bandages from her ankle to just below her knee, where her black pants stopped. But again, she liked the pain. Over the last few years, Y/n had realized the pain made her feel. It gave her a release. It was the only thing she ever felt. Pain. Anger. Destruction. Death. Darkness.

"Good," Kakashi stated simply, "I- I'm glad you're alright." Before she could answer, he turned to leave. He lifted his arm over his head, giving a gentle wave, "Later!"

Y/n shook her head in disbelief. Kakashi Hatake had just sought her out to check on her. Ignoring the strange feeling that settled in her chest, Y/n made her way home.
