Kakashi refused to let me walk back to the village, instead, he carried me on his back. We made our two day journey through mud and fallen trees. The storm that raged while I was unconscious, stopped the morning after... after what we won't talk about. Neither one of said a word about it, and I don't intend to.
"I can walk now." The gates came into view.
"I'm taking you to the hospital."
"No. Tsunade can examine me."
"I'm still carrying you."
I huffed in annoyance but still relaxed by putting my head against his back. What am I going to do? Iruka. I wasn't sure I could face the man. I wasn't sure I could face myself. I had slept so soundly in Kakashi's arms that night, safe, secure and- no.
"Thank, Kami." I lifted my head from his back and looked to the gates. Genma stood with Kotetsu rushing forward to us. "Everyone was starting to worry."
"I'm fine. I can walk." I tried to slide off Kakashi's back, but his grip tightened.
"No. You can't. You tried to prove me wrong earlier and fell."
"It's just chakra depletion. I'm fine. If you'd given me a food pill-"
"Enough." He demanded. "We're going to Lady Tsunade."
No one else uttered a word as Kakashi carried me past them. I growled as I bore holes in the back of the silver haired nin that was carrying me. He continued his way to the Hokage building and all too soon, we were there.
Kakashi pushed the open door wider with his foot, allowing us to enter. Tsunade didn't even look up as we walked in, she must've been waiting for someone. "Shikamaru, we need to put a team together. They've been gone an extra four days. It's not like either one of them to do this. I-"
When she finally saw us before her she stopped talking. I thought she might actually start crying. She stood abruptly and rushed to us, Kakashi finally let me slide off of my perch. He was right though, I swayed and they both caught me.
"Lay her down." Tsunade directed Kakashi.
Kakashi lifted me in his arms and gently laid me on the couch in her office. Tsunade knelt next to me as Kakashi stood near my feet, eye studying me. Tsunade lifted the shirt that covered my torso, not even needing to ask where I was injured.
"Chakra depletion and a nasty wound. What happened?" Her eyes cut to Kakashi.
"Samehada." In one word she had her answer.
"Dammit." Her hands skimmed my stomach, causing me to wince. "Itachi and Kisame, then?"
"Yes." Kakashi answered.
"What happened?" Tsunade didn't look at either one of us as she spoke, she just kept working.
Will he tell her the truth? Will I? We exchanged a look before he sighed and opened his mouth to answer. He was silenced by the office doors banging open.
"Y/n?!" A panicked Iruka scanned the room, eyes finally falling to me. "Thank, Kami!"
Iruka. I thought sadly. I hadn't wanted to see him yet, it's too soon. Tsunade was mumbling about her doors and privacy, but continued her diligent work. Iruka made his way to me and knelt near my head, planting a soft kiss to my forehead before stroking my hair. His eyes scanned my body, aside from being dirty, the only wound was the one on my abdomen.
"Are you okay?" Iruka asked.
"Yes." I fought back the tears of shame, "I'm fine."
"Now then, what happened?" Tsunade urged again.
