"I have something for you." Jiraiya stated as we sat eating dinner one night.
We had been traveling a few months now. My 17th birthday had come and gone. I was learning better chakra control and trying to establish a better reserve.
"Wha?" My question was muffled by a mouthful of food.
Jiraiya shook his head, and pulled a scroll out of his pack, "It's from Minato."
I choked. After my coughing had calmed down, I finally picked it up.
"What do you mean?" I held the scroll gently, afraid to break it.
"He left it for you. If you read it, it'll explain why I'm giving it to you now."
I nodded, opening it slowly.
"Y/n,
If you're reading this, then I was killed long before I was able to teach you myself. I didn't want you to grow too quickly. You deserve to be a little girl as long as you can.
I hope you had an amazing childhood. I'm sure you've grown into a beautiful young woman.
I asked Master Jiraiya to take you as his pupil, should I die too soon. You're likely 16 or 17 by now. I wish I was there to see you.
I've asked for Master Jiraiya to help you learn two of my jutsus:
- Flying Thunder God
- Rasengan (you will likely be able to preform Chidori more easily, with lightening being your affinity)
Please do not be discouraged. I may not be there, physically, watching over you, but I am here, watching over you.
I am proud of you, my little hime. I love you.
- Minato
Tears poured down my cheeks. I sobbed loudly, causing people to look at me. I didn't care. I clutched the scroll to my chest tightly. It was one of my most prized possessions. I would cherish it forever.
And so, began my training for both techniques.

"Rowan!" I shouted.
The large black wolf flanked my left side.
"Now!" I yelled.
Rowan pounced, taking Jiraiya to the ground.
"Heel."
Rowan returned to my side. The wolf stood on all fours, his head coming just above my waist. Jiraiya helped me make a contract with him and his pack. Sage, his brother was light gray in color. The alpha and the beta.
"You're becoming synchronized. You're doing well." Jiraiya said as he stood.
"The tattoo makes the summon faster."
I had a tattoo placed on my arm, I simply bite my thumb, run the blood over the tattoo, and Rowan appears.
"Now, let's work on your arrows."
Rowan disappeared as a cloud of lightening appeared. Another reason we worked well together. He and his brother, had a natural affinity for lightening.

"You're first drink!" Jirayia cheered, raising his sake cup.
"Master Jirayia, you and I both know I've been drinking since I've been traveling with you."
"Shhhhh!" He hushed loudly, "You're first official drink." He winked.
I rolled my eyes at his comment. Then, a familiar voice called out to us.
"Y/n! Happy birthday!"
"Tsunade-sama!" I exclaimed, "You came."
"Of course!"
Needless to say, my alcohol tolerance was pretty good. I had two heavy drinkers teaching me their ways. I took on a lot of bad habits from them actually. Tsunade's gambling habit and Jirayia's sexualization of almost anything. I was a mess, but no one knew that. Well, I'm sure Jirayia did, but he just left me alone.
_____________ TIME SKIP ______________
My dark heart was covered by a wall of sarcasm. Followed by a wall of bad habits. I incased my heart, hoping to never have it shattered again. I was doing good, not letting anyone in. Not having it broken again.
"I think it's time for you to go on your own." Jirayia spoke between drinks.
"What do you mean?" I asked, after downing the sake.
"You're older, wiser, more skilled than before. I think it's time for you to travel alone. Go where you wish. Go home even."
Home. I absentmindedly reached for the chain around my neck. I traced the Hatake crest.
"Not yet."
"He misses you."
I huffed are Jirayia, "I doubt that. The man found me a nuisance."
"He's grown. So have you."
I knew what he implied by the way he said it. I simply rolled my eyes.
"He has a team now."
"What?" I asked surprised, nearly choking on the sake.
Jirayia clapped by back as I coughed, "You'll never guess who's on his team."
"Oh?"
"Sakura Haruno. Sasuke Uchiha. Naruto Uzumaki."
This time, I dropped my glass. "You're shitting me?"
We soaked up the spilt sake as he mumbled something about paying for wasted drinks.
"They passed the same test I was given, the one Minato was given and the one he was given."
"The bell test." I stated.
"Yes."
"I bet he's exhausted." I commented.
Jirayia simply laughed loudly. I found my mind drifting, imagining the silver haired man leading those three. Sakura didn't sound familiar, but I'm sure she was just as much of a handful as the two males.
Alone at 19. Traveling the shinobi world. What's the worst that could happen?
