We entered the banquet and I felt all eyes fall on us. Kankuro broke away from the group he was with and approached us quickly. He gave a slight bow and held his hand out to me.
"Please, I'll escort you to your table."
I gave a small curtesy and took his hand, "Thank you."
Kakashi followed behind silently. Kankuro pulled my chair out for me and I settled in it as he pushed it in. Kakashi took a seat to my right. I realized that we were at the table with the Sand Siblings and Baki.
"Would you like some sake?" Kankuro asked.
"Please." Kakashi answered.
I gave Kankuro a smile as he walked away. I turned to face Kakashi, still smiling. I placed my hand on his lower thigh and gave a slight squeeze.
"You need to be social." I scorned.
"We just got here."
I rolled my eyes but remained facing him. We were a couple after all. As I sensed Kankuro nearing us, Kakashi lifted his hand and brushed a stray hair from my face. I gave an innocent smile as a blush dusted my face.
"Here you go." I could feel his hesitation.
"Thank you Kankuro-kun." I cooed happily. "Please, join us." I gestured to the seat to my left.
"I will shortly. Dinner is almost ready."
Kakashi and I made small conversation. Gentle touches exchanged as though we were a loving couple simply enjoying each other's company. Our eyes kept a diligent watch though. This was a small affair. A few small village heads were attending. I was curious as to why Tsunade wasn't here herself though.
"The official ceremony is to be held later." Kakashi whispered in my ear.
Causing chills to dance over my skin. I gave a hum, avoiding looking at him. This mission and this week would be the death of me. Kakashi left his arm on the back of my chair as the rest of the occupants settled in.
"How long have you two been dating?" Temari asked as our plates were sat before us.
"Little over six months now." I answered with a shy smile.
"Lady Tsunade must approve if she sent you here together." Baki pointed out.
"Lady Tsunade has been trying to get us together for years." A flirtatious laugh followed my answer.
"As well as Master Jirayia." Kakashi added.
I looked to Kakashi adoringly at the statement. I wasn't surprised by his words per-say, but the fact that he said them. A short laugh was shared by the table. Gaara stood and gave his thanks for all those attending and gave a toast.
We all sat and ate, exchanging stories and adventures. Kakashi continued to pour me sake after sake. The food absorbed most of it, but I did let some of it hit me. My giggles came easily from me at the antics of the Sand Siblings, they were cute to watch.
"Something's off." I whispered to Kakashi as I pecked his clothed cheek. I pulled away and stood, "If you'll excuse me, I'm going to the restroom."
The men stood in respect and Temari nodded. "I'll escort you." Kakashi offered.
We made our way out the main doors and down the hallway. I brushed my finger tips to his and pulsed a small jolt of lightening. Kakashi flinched but didn't say anything. We reached the bathrooms and I pulled him in with me after seeing we were alone.
"What's wrong?" He asked worriedly.
"There's a familiar signature in there, but I can't place it."
