[1st POV - Spock]

The Captain and Lieutenant made the decision that I would keep Lieutenant (Y/LN)'s mother company while they investigated the Lieutenant's wild theory. It was most illogical to believe no female life lived on this planet prior to Starfleet involvement. I could not disagree with the confusion on this planet would spark such fascinating theories and while the Lieutenant's theory "picked at my brain" as the humans would put it, it left me to question why I was chosen to remain watch over her mother.

"I'm sure all of this must be... confusing to you, Vulcan." Mrs. (Y/LN) began to speak to me as I stood by the entrance of her tent. I was confused by the use of "Vulcan" to address me.

"I am First Commander Spock. If you wish to address me as Spock, it would be most logical. It would also make conversating with me much simpler." The manner she spoke to me was rather abrasive, almost offensive if I could feel offense. I could sense her discomfort and disapproval simply charging off her body.

If Lieutenant (Y/LN) is anything like her mother, it would be most illogical to keep her onboard. However, it would seem equally as illogical to get rid of her since she responded negatively to her own mother. Frankly, human women are far too emotional.

I internally sighed at the headache I felt was growing in my mind.

"How is it my daughter is accompanied by the Captain James T. Kirk and she chooses a Vulcan to be her closest friend." The woman spoke with what I could easily tell was distaste, possible traces of disgust?

"I have already explained to you earlier, M'am, that I do not know your daughter at all. All I know about her is strictly amongst the Starfleet confidentiality forms. She does not consider me a friend neither do I, as we Vulcans believe not in friendship but logical partnerships. Your daughter is anything but a choice in that section."

Her mother is seriously deranged if her mind believes her daughter and I are anything but Starfleet officers forced to work together.

"My daughter...." she began to speak in a dejected sigh, "oh my naive daughter. She pretends to be tough and angry at the world. The truth is she only hates one man in the entire galaxy. Quite frankly, we both do." She walked from the throne-like seating area and approached me.

"I do not require an extensive background on Lieutenant (Y/LN). The information on her files suffices for my databases." I quickly turned to stop her from speaking any farther. She only stared at me and shook her head, "Do you have a mother, Spock?"

I remained silent. "I did."

"Did?"

"She... passed when my home planet was destroyed." I replied curtly. "What does she have to do with this?"

"Did your father survive?" She pressured.

"Yes. He was a member of the high council. He was... prioritized." There began to be a heaviness on my chest as we spoke of the day my planet was destroyed. It was still fresh in my memory and scarred my emotional human side of me. If I were not careful with my responses, this situation may turn for the worst.

[3rd POV - Narrator]
"You must hate him, Spock." The woman began to pace towards Spock, speaking lowly almost in a seductive manner. "You must hate the man who practically caused the downfall of your own mother."

"It was not my father's fault the planet was destroyed. It was a phenomenon that could not have been avoided. It is illogical to place blame on another being for the death of my mother." The Vulcan started to show signs of emotional distress, but hid them well.
