4 weeks later
TrisI get off the plane, happy that I get a new start.
These past few weeks have been hard. Mourning for my mom and transferring everything to Portland was hard to do together.
But then I see her, and all of my memories come flooding back.
She holds a sign that says, Trissy.
I run toward Christina with all of my energy.
"Chrissy!" I scream.
I hug her tightly, tears gently falling.
She pulls back and wipes them away with her thumb.
"I'm so happy to see you." I say smiling, happy tears still falling.
"I know. I am too. C'mon, let's go home."
She takes one of my three suitcases and wraps her open arm around my shoulders.
"I haven't seen you in forever." Christina says quietly.
She's tall with mocha skin and black hair, cut to her shoulders. Yep, same old Chrissy.
"I know. Everything was going really good at first. I was getting ready to graduate with a bachelor degree in interior design but then that stupid drunk driver came along and ruined everything." A sob ecscapes my lips at the thought.
"Hey..Hey it's okay. Just put it behind you. Take some online courses, get your degree. Everything's going to be okay."
I smile slightly. Christina was always the positive one.
By now we were in the car.
"I already painted your bedroom. It's a blue and black theme. I hope you like it."
"You remembered my favorite colors?"
"If course! I never forgot anything." She smiled widely.
"I'm going to try to get a job. Get myself back on track. Help pay the rent. Ya know?" I commented quietly.
"It sounds like a plan. I think once you get your feet on the ground, everything will fall into place."
The rest of the car ride was silent.
We arrived at her house. I guess now it's our house.
She unlocks the door and turns on the lights.
"Welcome to Portland Tris!" A group of 4-5 shouts.
I look at Christina questionably.
"I decided to throw you a a suprise welcome party."
I hug her tightly again.
"Thank you for everything, Christina." I whisper to her.
"You're so very welcome Tris. Now, let me introduce you."
"That's Zeke and Uriah. They are twins." She points to two tall tan boys.
"That's Shauna and Marlene. Marlene is dating Uriah and Shauna is dating Zeke." She motions to two girls.
Shauna is tall with brown hair and green eyes and Marlene is tan with brown eyes.
"That's Lynn." Lynn is tall, intimidating girl with a shaved head.
"Sadly, Four could not come tonight but you will meet him later. He went to Chicago a month ago and become awe struck with this girl. Now he sits by his phone, hoping she will call... Okay who wants pizza!?!"
My eyes widen. Four is waiting for me to call? I don't even know him and he doesn't even know me. Yet, he's waiting by his phone.
I decide one thing. I'm going to call Four. Right now.
I excuse myself from the group and walk upstairs to find my room.
Once I find it, I take out my cellphone.
I dial his number quickly.
It rings and suddenly I realize that I am calling a stranger. I dont even know why I am! I am very nervous now.
"Hello?" It's him. The man that comforted me when I needed someone. The man who left without knowing my name.
"Hey it's .. well you don't know my name. It is that.. uh girl you comforted at the hospital... Do you remember? You said to call if I was ever in Portland.." I stutter
"Of course I remember! I've been waiting for you to call. This may sound creepy, because you don't know me, but I've been waiting for you to call. You've been on my mind ever since that day."
I laughed lightly, my cheeks tinting slightly.
"Hey so umm.. do you want to go grab coffee or something sometime? How long are you going to be in Portland?"
"I moved in with Christina. So coffee can happen any day. "
"Great. I'm picking you up tomorrow morning for coffee. Be ready by 10."
"It's a date."
