***Abhimanyu's P. O. V***
I watched as Naina snored softly on the lounger, making me chuckle. She looked so cute and adorable - I could look at her all day long!
Putting my phone aside, I turned to look at her as she turned on her spot but continued to snore softly, deep in sleep.
She looked so calm and relaxed, I couldn't help but smile!
After we'd talked about her not wanting to become a mother last week, we'd gone out for dinner, though she'd gone back to her old quiet and somber self.
Though she hadn't been avoiding me or anything in this last week, she'd seemed tensed. I've asked her a lot if there's something wrong, and what's bothering her, but she just put it off saying that old wounds had been scourged which is just making her sad but she'd get over it soon too.
She had been spending a lot of time at her office, leaving early in the morning and coming back late at night. We'd had 2 more dates in the past 1 week, but again, Naina had seemed very put-off.
And right now as I looked at her sleeping peacefully, I couldn't help notice the shadows under her eyes and the crease on her forehead like as though her dream was rather disturbing.
Everyday of this past week, as Naina and I had cuddled to sleep, I always would fall asleep much more before her - did the pregnancy talk bother her so much and reopen closed wounds of her breakup?!
But today I'd insisted that she sleep on my lap, so that I could massage her hair and help her relax. Though she'd not agreed at first, but she'd given into my insistence, and had fallen asleep within minutes!
I couldn't help but moan at the sweet fragrance of her hair, of how her smooth hair slipped through my fingers, and how angelic she looked as she slept on my lap.
Looking at her sleeping form, I looked back at the past week - it had been exhausting for both of us with our busy professional lives, with Naina having to deal with the memories of her breakup in addition to everything else.
She even seemed lost and dazed, the blank expression on her face whenever I asked her if everything was okay. I knew it was stupid of me to bring the topic of pregnancy - I just hope she is able to forget it all soon and go back to the way she was before!! The closed book that she is, Naina doesn't even share her woes or her thoughts!!
Just then, my phone pinged - it was a message from Nikhil.
Trying not to wake Naina up, I picked up my phone from the night-stand beside me to read the message.
'Meet me at Broadway in half an hour' was all that the message read.
I stared at the message, and then at the time - it was around midnight. Why had Nikhil called me to meet him at such a late hour?!
I looked down at Naina who was fast asleep, and made my decision in an instant. As quietly as possible and without waking her up, I slowly removed her head off my lap before placing a pillow underneath her head. Though she moved a little, but she drifted off to the deep-sleep state quickly and continued snoring softly. I couldn't help myself from bending down and kissing her forehead before I got dressed.
Leaving a note on the bedside table for Naina, I left, to meet Nikhil.
Half an hour later, I was entering the pub where Nikhil had asked me to meet up, and looked around. Though it was well over midnight, the pub was full of people - drinking, eating and dancing!
Why did Nikhil want to meet up here out of all the places?
I dialed his number, to ask him where he was, but even before the call had connected, I found him sitting at a corner - alone.
