3.4• The Captain.

Meanwhile in Mrs Buono's Classroom
Millie's POV

"Dude there's no way that happened." Finn shook his head in disbelief. "I swear, I made it past level 256. I couldn't believe my eyes." Gaten nodded assuringly. "Bullshit man, the next level doesn't even exist." Noah placed his hand across his face. "What game is this again?" I asked intrigued. "Pac-man!" the boys answered simultaneously. "And what's wrong with what Gaten said?" Lexi wondered.

"There is no level 257. The game ends on level 256. On this level the right side of the screen turns into a jumbled mess of numbers and letters, while the left side is normal. You can't see the maze at all from the right side making it impossible to beat." Noah explained. "So why are you claiming such?" Lexi asked Gaten. "Because I'm Gaten Matarazzo." He replied while kissing his biceps.

Finn and Noah groaned before standing up to move to the other side of the room. "I guess we should follow them." I chuckled while Lexi and I followed Finn and Noah. "Oh come on guys don't leave. I'm Gaten Matarazzo." He whined from the front of the classroom. "No way, you need a time out bro." Finn said firmly.

"Gaten if you ever talk about passing level 256 again, I'll extend your detention for six months." Mrs Buono threatened from a her desk. Gaten gulped in response. "No one conquers the kill screen. If anyone were to ever do it then I'd give them an A+ for the rest of the year." she said.

Oh god. Mrs Buono's a gamer, I can't believe it. Before I thought of anything else, Caleb and Sadie walked in the room with the files our beloved english teacher asked for. "It took you two 90 minutes to get my files. A new world record." She said looking at her watch. "Sorry ma'am we got locked in your office." Caleb whispered but we all heard him.

"Did you get locked or did you push instead of pull?" Mrs Buono chuckled. "Caleb's fault. It's entirely his fault!" Sadie answered throwing him under the bus. She tells Sadie and Caleb to sit for the last half-hour of detention.

"So did you do it?" I spoke softly so only she could hear. "I'll tell you later." Sadie responded with a smile. It's certainly sounds like good news. I'm already proud of my girl.

Detention has finally ended on this beautiful Friday evening. I can't wait to hear what my bestie has to say later tonight. Sadie and Noah are sleeping over at my house for the weekend. Luckily for me, Noah is the only boy my dad likes. I wish I could say the same for the other guys due to them having an abysmal history with the police captain.

We all exited the main doors and walked through the courtyard. "How you getting home?" I asked Noah. "My mom's giving me a lift. I'll pack my bag and then I'll come by. What about you Sadz?" He looked at her. "I already packed my bags yesterday bitch. I'm heading straight to the Browns." She says as we high five.

"You ladies have fun." Caleb jokes clearly referring to Noah. "I sure will. I got these two all to myself tonight." He replies kissing both me and Sadie on our cheeks. The smile on Caleb's face immediately dissapeared making all of us laugh in the process.

My dad's car soon dropped by to pick Sadie and I up, but what I didn't expect was for my dad to actually exit the car and walk towards the group. I immediately alerted the boys because they still had no idea he was coming. I tapped Finn's shoulder and notified him. Once he saw my dead he tried to walk away but I grabbed his bag and pulled him back.

"Hey sweetie, Lexi, Sadz." My father greeted.  The girls and I gave him a hug, then he turned his attention to the boys. Finn and Gaten gulped at the same time and let me say, it was difficult to hold in my laugh.

"Mr. Wolfhard. It's a pleasure seeing you again." He says flatly while shaking his hand. I could tell Finn tried to squeeze my dad's hand but he failed miserably. "Mr. Brown, the pleasure is mine, WOW that's a really firm grip you got there." Finn struggled and used his free hand to try to get loose from my father's grip.

"Matarazzo, shake it up." My dad held his hand out. "I'm good Captain Brown. It's been a while." Gaten nervously waved from a far. "McLaughlin, you wouldn't have anything to do with the vandalism at the skate park, would you? The fearless captain now asks Caleb. "Not at all sir!" He answers. Sadie and I say our goodbyes before entering my dad's car.
