Laurent was up with Caroline all night. He stayed in her room with her, he changed her clothes, he tucked her in to bed and laid with her, waiting. He refused to leave her alone unless he knew that she was okay. Throughout the night, she hadn't moved or opened her eyes, which made him worry greatly. If she didn't wake up by the next day, he was sure she was gone, and he would never be able to forgive himself for it; he knew he was a factor of why she did what she did.
Before he got her into bed last night, he wrapped her arm in gauze and bandages, making sure that it was padded but not suffocating. The scars she had on her arm were deep, but it wasn't deep enough to actually affect her besides the pain she'd be feeling after. He just couldn't figure out why she would even try both cutting and taking pills. He didn't want to find out why, but he was sure they would talk about it whether she wanted to or not. He didn't want to allow his girl to go through this again, especially without him knowing.
He's been pacing around her room for ten minutes, continuously glancing over at her bed to see if she moved at least an inch, but she didn't.
"Please wake up," he said to himself, walking towards her bed slowly. He sat next to her on the bed and he kicked his feet up on it, being careful so that he didn't put any of his weight on her. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders, and he pulled her close to him gently, making sure her head was lying on his chest comfortably.
"I'm so sorry, my girl," he whispered, shutting his eyes to ease the burning behind them. "I am selfish, I know this. I treat you so bad for weeks and I no think of how you feel. I beat you, I curse you.. I-I take advantage of you. You do not deserve that, baby. You so sweet, and soft, and small. You so young and still is innocent... I am sorry for doing this to you."
He looked down at her and he brushed her hair out of her face, watching her eyelids carefully. Nothing was moving except for her chest that rose and fell ever so slightly as she rested. At least she was breathing. Laurent leaned his head back against the bed and he sighed, shutting his eyes. He wanted to get some shuteye, even if it was for only five minutes. As long as he would be able to know that she was waking up, he'd be fine.
Just when he was about to slip away, her body began to jolt beside him, making him shoot up in his spot.
"Caroline?" He said quickly, frowning when her body lurched forward, as if she was trying to throw up. He jumped out of his spot, and he grabbed her body carefully, pulling her out of her bed. She continued to heave in his arms as he carried her to the bathroom and he opened the door, rushing her over to the toilet. Right when he sat her down in front of it, she began to throw up again and he kept her head over the toilet, making sure her hair was out of her face. Caroline's body shook violently as she emptied the contents in her stomach and once she stopped she hovered over the toilet for a few seconds, panting heavily.
Laurent didn't say anything as he watched her collect herself, and he grabbed the rag he left on the sink, turning the water on. He let it run until it was hot and he put the tag under it, ringing it out tightly.
"Come on," he said softly, pulling her away from the toilet. Caroline jumped and she looked up at him in a panic, her eyes growing wide when he kneeled down to her level. She pushed herself against the sink in an attempt to get away from him but he grabbed her quickly, trying to hold her still.
"Stop it, baby. I will not hurt you, okay?"
"Are you lying?" She asked hoarsely, not bothering to stop her tears from spilling out of her eyes. Laurent got quiet for a minute as he watched his girl break down into tears. Her eyes were filled with so much pain and fear and he couldn't even swallow down the sob that emitted from his throat. He really ruined her; he broke her down until she was nothing, and he couldn't even take it back.
