Everything was going by in such a blur for Caroline. She was going in and out of consciousness during the whole ride, and when she finally came to, the only thing she could see was the blinding white lights flashing around her. She heard the distant sounds of people voices, and the unfamiliar feeling of something solid under her, much like a bed. Her eyes were squinted as she tried to adjust to the new light. When she did, there was no doubt that she was in a hospital room. The first thing she thought of was Laurent, and where he could have been during that time. She knew he must have been pissed to see that both and Larry were no longer in the house, but she didn't even care. For once, she knew her safety was far more important than anything else. To the left of her, there was beeping coming from a heart monitor, and she grew nervous at the sight of it.
Am I really in bad shape?
"Larry?" She called, looking around the small room she was in. She sat up in the uncomfortable bed and she looked around, scooting backwards until she was sitting upright.
A hospital...
Larry was nowhere in sight, and she started to panic, her hands frantically searching the sides of the bed for the nurse's button. Once she found it, she pressed it repeatedly, waiting anxiously for someone to come to her room. She couldn't remember what happened after she kept falling asleep in the car, and she surely didn't know when Larry had left her side, or how long it had been.
She looked down at her arms and she saw that there were IV's sticking out of her, leading up to a bag filled with clear liquid she assumed was morphine. There were clean bandages wrapped around her body, and her ribcage was wrapped tightly with a cast. She could barely move it, but she figured it was for the best; who knows how bad Laurent damaged her.
Caroline looked towards her door when it opened and a short nurse stepped in, smiling at her. "You called?"
"Y-Yes," Caroline said. "I need to find my... my friend. Larry? Have you seen him?"
The nurse walked over to the bed calmly and she pressed a hand on Caroline's shoulder, rubbing it soothingly. "Are you talking about the man that brought you in?"
"Yes him. He was beaten pretty bad... I just want to know if he's okay."
"He's in the ICU right now, darling," the nurse sighed, watching as Caroline's face contorted with worry. "Whoever beat him was really trying to kill him. Right now, his leg is getting checked out by the doctors. He was bleeding out from the glass that punctured one of the veins in his leg, but he should be okay by this evening."
"Can I see him?"
"Not just yet," she said. "The police are going to be coming in to question you both because it seemed as if you guys were attacked. Who's to say when they're coming in, but I know they'll be here soon. For now, just sit tight, okay?"
"O-Okay," Caroline said, lying back against the bed. "Will you let me know when I can see him?"
"Of course darling. I'll be back later to give you your lunch, alright?"
"Okay," Caroline said softly. "How long am I staying here?"
"However long it takes you to heal from your wounds," the woman said. "Given the condition you're in, I'd give it about two weeks, maybe more. Let's just pray for a speedy recovery, yeah?"
Caroline nodded and she watched as the nurse left the room, leaving her by herself again. She tried to focus on anything but the state Larry was in, yet that seemed to be the only thing embedded into her mind. She prayed that he would be okay, but given how bloody and beaten his face was, she knew there was some serious damage that was done. Everything was just so sudden; two brothers, twins, were fighting for her. One to save her, and one to ruin her. Now because of her, one of them might be in critical condition. The way Laurent made him look in the red room was enough to make her want to break down and cry, but when he continued the attack, she couldn't even watch it anymore.
