Laurent and Caroline ended their shower about ten minutes after they talked, and Laurent helped her dry off and dress, letting her change into a pair of shorts and a tank top. Her hair was still damp by the time Laurent went back to his room and put on dry clothes, and he helped her put her hair into a bun. It was his first time doing anything like that, but it turned out well. Now, Caroline was sitting on the sink waiting for Laurent to disinfect her self inflicted wounds, and she was more than nervous because she knew the burning would be agonizing.

"It's going to burn," Caroline muttered, keeping her arm away from Laurent.

"It will burn," he said, ripping a piece of paper towel from the roll. He grabbed her arm and he brought it towards him, holding it gently. "But I have to clean it okay, baby?"

Caroline shook her head, twisting her arm between his fingers slightly. "You don't have to clean it."

"I do, girl. You want this to be infected?"

Caroline didn't answer and she watched as he dipped the paper towel into a bowl of peroxide, ringing it out a little over the bowl.

"No," she whined as he brought the dripping piece of paper towel to her arm. "No, no, don't! Wait!"

Laurent huffed. "I will count, okay? Is that okay?"

Caroline nodded and Laurent did the same rubbing the sides of her forearm softly. "One... two... three."

Laurent let the peroxide drip onto her wounds and Caroline winced and she tried to pull her arm away, but he held onto it, wiping the open cuts one by one. He cleaned them as gently as he could until he couldn't see any more dried blood on them before he tossed the paper into the bin by the sink. Caroline watched as he reached for the bowl, and he held it above her arm preparing to pour some of it onto it.

"Laurent, no," Caroline pleaded, shaking her head. "It burns too much, please don't."

"Baby, I have to," he sighed, bringing her knuckles to his lips. He pressed a gentle kiss onto them and he looked down at her, smiling a little. "After this, I do not touch it, okay?"

Caroline hesitated before she nodded and he tilted the bowl, letting the liquid run over her arm. Caroline let out a stifled cry and she hissed, kicking her legs against the sink. The chemicals sizzled against her exposed wounds and her arm burned as the substance cleaned it out. She felt the pain run all through her left arm until the sizzling faded, but the pain was still evident.

"See?" Laurent chuckled, leaning forward to kiss her forehead. "It was not so bad, yes?"

"No. It didn't even hurt."

Laurent laughed loudly, throwing his head back in amusement. "Yeah, right."

"Yeah right," she muttered, mocking him childishly.

"Shut up," he said, looking down at her. "But really, baby, do not do this again. Okay? If you feel like this, tell me."

"I didn't think you cared."

"I do."

"Now you do."

"Stop," he sighed. He reached up and he cupped her face in hospital hands, tilting her head upwards. "Just promise you will not do it again, please."

Caroline huffed and she nodded, blinking back the little bit of tears forming behind her eyes. "I promise, but I still want answers."

"Ask anything, girl," he said, placing his hands on the sink beside her. "I will be honest."
