Chapter 16 - a beautiful turn

"Spit it out" Kev told me and that was exactly what I did. I didn't leave anything out. I told him exactly what happened. How I felt at each time. My response to every action. My thoughts at each scene. I admit, I did try to leave out gym class today, but he caught on and made me spill the beans.

It was nice sharing such emotions with him. He even let me cuddle with him at one point. He understood my every action and was okay with almost every move of mine. He didn't seem to like the words I used at the last part though...

I was angry and at fault, I will admit that. But he also was at fault and he deserved to be put back in place.

Right?

He didn't cross any boundary though

"Krystal, what you said to him today was uncalled for" Kev says, "he was just looking out for you, and besides you were a snub at one point"

"Don't.even.go there" I growl at him, "I was just trying to protect myself" I lost my hands, exasperated.

"From what Krystal" he asks.

"From a relationship, Kevin, friendship" I choke out, "I didn't need to start liking him, I don't want to. What if he breaks me, Kevin. They've done it too many times, Kevin, what else do you want me to do but protect myself" I was at the verge of tears.

"Hey, hey, hey, it's okay, it's okay" he whispers, patting my hair down, "It's okay Krystal, I'm sorry, I didn't mean that, I'm sorry" He kept muttering how he was sorry until I couldn't take it anymore.

"Kev it's not your fault okay, I was just getting emotional unnecessarily"

He releases a breath "Thank God you know"

What?!

"What do you mean by that?" I ask him.

"Nothing" he sings, wiggling his eyebrows.

Oh you've gotta be kidding me

"Kevin..." I warn getting on my fore arms and knees.

"Yeah..." He bites his lips, trying to hide a grin.

Then he giggles,

Like what?

I jump on top of him, taking him by surprise. I straddle him, grabbing a pillow, "I ask one more time, what did you mean by that?" I growl, trying to conceal a smile. I guess the conversation had taken a beautiful turn.

"Jesus, nothing. I didn't mean anything by that" I produce an evil smile, which turns into a full blown out grin.

As I was a about to pounce on him, I hear a voice that will most probably ground me for the rest of my life, "Krystal!!!!, get your pretty little ass off him right now" mom screams.

We stare wide eyed at each other, "oh shit" we say simultaneously.

It was an unpleasant situation after mum caught Kev and I about to start a pillow fight. She kept on rambling about Kev's health. How he's not allowed to do strenuous activities and what did I think trying to start a pillow fight.

It was supposed to be harmless fun.

*sigh*

After she finished, we felt really bad, especially after she played the disappointed card on us. Now it was time for dinner and we were sitting quietly beside each other, with me playing with my fingers while staring at it and Kev occupying his ears with an earphone.

"Usage of gadgets are prohibited during family time" my dad states. I pinch Kevin on his arm and he flinches. He pulls out one ear aggressively,

"What?!" He stage whispered. He was quite pissed and so I pointed towards dad who was staring at him. He then understood and then plucked out the other ear as well.

"As angry as I am with you for pinching me, thanks" he whispers, leaning towards me.

"No problem" I produce a small smile.

We ate in awkward silence, until my elder brothers start whispering to themselves, and hitting each other on the arm. With a serious face, John tells Adam to 'say yours first' and then Adam repeats the same thing, muttering words of him being the senior. The sight was a very weird one especially for us that didn't know what they were talking about.

Finally, they decide to end the misery by giving their announcement. "So um guys, as we all know I have my responsibilities and a job to get back to, soo...I will be going back to my place of assignment, soon" John explained.

"Uhhuhh, I'll miss youuu" I say with a frown.

"It's okay Krystal, I'm just one phone call away and I still have about tomorrow and Sunday with you guys"

"Alright, sure" I chew on my food.

"Then to the more interesting gist," Adam says as John eyes him "mum, dad, I've got a girlfriend" Adam says, smiling and feeling so proud of himself.

There was silence, then a chuckle, "are you serious" I ask. He gives me a 'duh' look and I grimace. "what girl would be able to tolerate you and your craziness" I said shocked at his confession, with my eyes wide and my hands gripping the table

"Krystal" mum reprimands and I raise my hands up in defense.

"No offense but at one point I swear I thought you were gay" Kev shrugged nonchalantly.

"What?!, I take offense" Adam yells comically huffing.

"See!" I waved hands in his face, signaling to everyone

"It's okay, I'm really happy for you darling" mum said finally, shooting Kev and I a glare.

"Yeah, so when do we get to meet her" I ask him, bouncing in my sit.

"Soon, sis, soon" Adam smirks, lifting his cutlery to his lips and chewing with such delight.

"Idiot"

Mum shoots a glare at me and Kev "what was that?"

"Nothing" Kev, I and someone say simultaneously.

We all stare at dad, with curious eyes. He raises his hands then stuffs his face with more food.

After dinner, mum made Kev and I clear the dishes. She was still pretty angry with us for our little stunt this evening. We also were seriously sorry, we even tried to give her the puppy dog eyes but there's a reason why we've lived with her for almost 18 years of our lives. She just snubbed us and left.

Ouch

Kev and I were currently washing the dishes when he asked, "so about Liam..." He trails off.

"What about him?" I turn towards him as I hand him a clean plate. "If it's about what we were talking about earlier then I think I need some processing time"

"Says the girl that literarily shut the guy up on the spot" He snickers. "Look it's okay if you feel like you need time but honestly, no offence, on my part I'd say you were at fault"

"Offence half taken" I lift an eyebrow and sigh, "I know I was at fault okay, I just..."

"I get it, I get it, you don't have to explain yourself" he pats my hair down with a smile, "now let's get this water business done and prepare for your outing with Liam tomorrow" he smirks turning away.

"Excuse me?!"
