"Dad, look what I have," Finn said, walking up to Keenan with his hands clasped together.

"What is it?" he asked, leaning forward from the bench.

Finn slowly opened his hands to reveal a caterpillar in his hands that was wriggling about.

It was hairy and spiky and had thousands of legs on it.

"I see," Keenan replied.
"Do you want me to call pest control? We can get rid of them if you want," he said nonchalantly.

Finn looked at him with a startled expression before frowning and shaking his head.

"I like the bugs," Finn murmured under his breath.

Keenan then raised a questionable eyebrow. "Do you want me to call the contractor to make you a small house for you and your bugs?"

Finn made a resigned face and looked perplexed by the offer.

"No thanks," he mumbled dejectedly.

Keenan glanced at him before humming and leaning back.

"Make sure to wash your hands afterwards," he mentioned.

Finn stared at him uncomfortable before nodding lightly before going  back to the garden.

Rose sighed and shook her head. It was obvious the relationship between them was strained.

Keenan began to buy more things for his son that he previously wouldn't have. She didn't know whether it was because he wanted to distract him or if that was his way of doting on him. Though it didn't help that he was still acting quite distant towards Finn.

To be honest, she had already saw the rift between him and Finn long before. She just didn't know if Keenan was aware of it or not.

"Why doesn't he want a bug farm? Don't kids like to take care of creatures?" he muttered towards her.

Rose frowned before putting her mug of tea down.

"I don't think you're getting the point," she mumbled.

Keenan raised his eyebrows at her.

"What do you mean? I'm already saying yes to everything he wants. What more does he want?"

Rose was unsettled at the fact that Keenan was obviously clueless about children, though it bore her no surprise.

"You were once a child, weren't you?" she started.

Keenan lifted his eyebrow at her.

"Of course? "

"Don't you remember playing with your parent's when you were younger?" she asked.

"No," he replied deadpan.

At first she was surprised by his abrupt answer but ultimately, it led Rose to sigh. Of course he wouldn't. She should have known. It explains a lot now.

"From what I've experienced, children like to be stimulated through emotions and reactions," she began to explain.

"Meaning?" he pressed.

"Meaning he wants to interact with your genuine interest in mind," she said. "It helps them feel like they are engaging with the people they want to be close with."

"So he wants me to pay attention to him?" he said aloud.

Rose clicked her tongue under her breath.
