Within the next few weeks, Rose had moved back in with Keenan and Finnigan.
She told herself that it was a decision based on safety, especially following the kidnapping incident of Finnigan.
During the day of the kidnapping, she felt as though her heart was going to stop. She couldn't help but feel powerless in the face of money and all she could do was cry over it.
Honestly, she felt pathetic afterwards. She was selfish to think she could take care of Finnigan by herself. She knew that now.
While pondering on the horrific memory, she realised she had already arrived at the gates of Keenan's house.
She was supposed to be moving all her last-minute things in today, since his assistants helped move a majority of her things to his house beforehand. All she had now with her was her luggage full of essentials.
Looking upon the house, she suddenly had flashbacks of all the memories of her living in here from before. It frankly made her shudder, but she had no time to be like this. She had to be strong-—no. She was strong. She sincerely believed that and would force herself to live by that while in his house.
In saying so, she carefully breathed out and closed her eyes before opening them again and walking towards the front door. As she arrived to the door, it immediately flung open and out came Finnigan.
"Mommy!" he yelled happily as he jumped into her arms.
Rose yelped and faltered backwards but managed to steady herself before hugging Finnigan back.
"Welcome home," he grinned.
Rose smiled awkwardly.
"Thank you," she muttered.
"Let me show you my room," Finnigan said eagerly.
He instantly pulled Rose along inside the house and was met by Keenan at the door.
"Dad, Mommy is home!" Finnigan said excitedly.
Keenan walked towards her with a smile and encased her in a hug.
He wrapped his arms around her, trapping Finnigan between. Without even looking, she knew that Finn probably didn't mind being squished; he actually seemed to like it by the way that he was giggling.
"Welcome back," Keenan whispered into her ear.
Rose stood there silently, not knowing what to do. All she knew for sure was that she didn't want to be touched by him.
"Mommy, mommy, come see my room," Finnigan yelled enthusiastically.
Keenan looked down and chuckled before retracting the hug and stepping back to give them some space.
Finnigan instantly began pulling Rose towards his bedroom— a room she hadn't seen in a while. She did always wonder at the back of her mind about what had changed since she'd last been here since she left.
When the two arrived at Finnigan's room, he slowly opened the door and pulled her inside, and to her surprise, it hadn't changed that much.
Out of pure curiosity, she slowly began walking around, eyeing everything she thought was different.
Maybe some new toys and a new shelf for his books, but other than that, it was exactly the same as she left it. Somehow, the fact that it was still the same as when she left gave her comfort.
