Chuckling while I reread our previous conversation, I shoved my phone into my back pocket. I made my way to the front door, calling out to my mother that I was leaving. Not looking up from the book that she was reading, she gave me a thumbs-up as I left.

"Wait! Explain to me what fusion is again", I lifted up a brow, still confused about basically everything Steven told me. He sighed, still showing a vague smile as he explained all over again.

"Fusion is when two or more gems merge together into one physical body", Steven quoted off Garnet, bringing up both his hands and clasping them together for a more visual aspect of it. "I almost had it, though".

I dug my toes into the sand, feeling the warmth from the sun glowing on it all day. The waves lapped onto the shoreline, creating a peaceful ambience. "Just get them to write out the steps or something", I suggested, not looking up from the grain. Steven glanced down, also not making eye contact with me.

"No... I don't think it's just about the dancing", he sighed, obliviously using his index finger to doodle in the sand. "When they fuse, they glow and kind of... phase into each other". Steven crossed his fingers together before peering up at me. "I don't know if I can even do that".

I tsked at him, flicking up sand with my toes and furrowing my brows. "Well, at least you CAN dance. I could never do that", I chuckled lightly at the thought of me on a dance floor. So stupid.

"Huh? What do you mean?", Steven questioned in bewilderment, making me huff in amusement. I gripped onto my arm, rubbing it up and down in distress as I glimpsed down at the floor. "I can't dance. I have two left feet", I admitted, curving up the edge of my lip not knowing whether to grin at the ignorance or frown at the humiliation.

"Really?", Steven quavered in utter confusion and doubt. I mean, I didn't expect it to be that surprising.

"Yeah. Oh! One time, a few days before the School Dance, my friends wanted to ask their crushes to go with them", I snickered softly before I even got to the funny bit. "So, during lunch, they blasted cheesy pop music and did the dumbest synchronised dance routine in front of the whole class!". Steven giggled as he attempted to visually picture the event in his head.

I glanced off into the ocean, watching the gentle currents approach us. "Their crushes were impressed and agreed to go with them". Steven tilted a brow when he realised one detail of the story was missing. He scooted closer to me, "How come you didn't go?".

I sneered, honestly assuming he was pulling my leg. But then I remembered, this was Steven Universe. Of course, he'd ask a question like that. "Are you kidding? Who'd ever invite me to dance?", I scoffed, as a modest smile appeared on my face. Steven's eyes met the ground as he pressed his two index fingers together.
