"What you saw in the last hour Miss Scott. I do apologise for it" Dumbledore spoke, his half moon spectacles had been discarded on his large desk and he seemed to be visibly sympathetic.
"I-" The words lodged in my throat. I looked down at my lap, my fingers were entwined with each other and my hair fell past my shoulders, hiding the expression on my face from the professors in the room.
"You're ok pet" Minnie spoke and wrapped her thin arms around me in a sweet gesture of motherly affection I had been craving since I stepped foot onto the express.
But I wasn't
"I don't understand how I found her" I whispered and glanced up at the headmaster who nodded his head and glanced out the window of his large office.
"I will have to do some research for you Miss Scott, you said you heard tapping correct? But rest assured we do not blame you for the death of that girl. You were just the unlucky soul that found her" Dumbledore sighed and picked back up his spectacles.
He seemed distressed. Maybe even rattled and I don't think in all my years of attending this school I have ever seen professor Dumbledore show any expression other than amusement and curiosity.
"Her heart was missing. Why?" I questioned and gripped the arm rests of the wooden chair I had been ushered to sit in once entering the office.
"There are many causes for hearts being missing from corpses. In this moment and time Miss Scott I'm assuming the killer needed it for something" Dumbledore muttered and shook his head with a tired sigh escaping his lips.
"That poor girl. She was sixth year like you" Minnie spoke with a shake of her head, her grip only seeming to tighten around me. Maybe she was trying to comfort herself too.
