The two were always seen together. Best friends. Perhaps soul mates. He was her Sladey. She was his Kitten. Two friends until the end. That's what everyone believed. That's what Kiku believed. But life wasn't fair.

She was so innocent to him. A bit younger than Slade too. Two years younger. His best friend. His little Kitten. But why wasn't it the same? Why was he beginning to feel too mature for her? Why couldn't he keep a smile in his eyes when she was with him anymore? Why was his laughter fake? He didn't know. He just knew he needed to move on. But he couldn't just let her understand that's what he was doing.

When Slade left for college, he told Kiku to wait for him. That he'd be back, and she'd be his little Kitten again. Kiku of course agreed to wait for him. She attended a local college when it came time for her to go to college. She promised to stay. She promised to be there when he came back.

He should of been back when he was 21.

Kiku didn't see him again until he was 26.

Both were college graduates at that point. But Kiku was still waiting for him. Just like he told her to.

When they saw each other again, Slade had a new group of friends. He had moved on as he planned. And Kiku was left alone, her friends having moved on from her when they grew fed up with her saying she was waiting for Slade. He promised her he'd be back. He promised she'd be his Kitten again.

No one in his group of friends knew who she was. Slade never mentioned her. He kept her as a dirty little secret. Something he didn't want others to know about.

This promptly caused the small girl to snap as she took a step forward, glaring up at Slade.

"You know, I've heard the stories over and over again. I didn't want to believe them. Gee it's swell to finally meet your other friends!" She snapped out, tears filling her eyes.
