~Y/N POV~

This shop was my happy place and suddenly it was getting crowded. First Jojo came in to tell me to talk to Race, then Albert. Les came into pick up the shoes. Finch told me that Race was coming in, and that I should apologize to him. I was so fed up. I almost spit fire when I saw Jack come in.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT?" I yelled.

He looked startled, and so did the girl on his arm. I was so embarrassed, I just rubbed my face, wiping away tears. Jack started, "I guess da guys been botherin' you?"

I nodded.

"Jack, let's leave the poor girl alone. She's been worn out."
"I can't stop them!"
"Well she can't face Race like this."

"I don't care anymore. Just...I should talk to him."

They both looked at me and nodded. It was awkward from there on. Katherine and Jack waited, Katherine deciding to get a new dress. I started to plan it out with her when the bell ring. I flinched, as I had been all day from news boy's bothering me.

I looked up to see Race. He had his bag on. He gave me a tight lipped smile. I nodded at him, before asking Hugo to come out.

"Come on," my voice was quiet, my hand pushing open the door and my head tilting to indicate leaving.

Race and I walked side by side, pretty slowly. I rubbed my hands up and down my arms, it was quite cold. I finally spoke up, "How are you?"

"Fine. You?"

"Okay."

"..."

"I'm really sorry. I should've stayed."

"I shouldn't have been yelling. I abandoned you. I should've told you."

"I understand why. If you needed the money-,"

"I don't. Well, I do but, not how you think. I mean I didn't get how you think."

"What?"

"The girl is rich. Her real boyfriend is too. They needed a scapegoat, so I offered to help them out, the girls parents hate me and now love her real boyfriend, then tada! It's his baby! But they'll already be married because he wants to take care of her and take her and her child away from this bum!"

I nodded. "Okay."

We just walked for a little bit. "How about we just be friends? I forgive you, but I was really hurt."

We agreed and went our ways. When I returned to the shop, I let out a deep breath. I had been fidgeting with the ring the entire time. I looked at it again before slipping it back on and returning to work.
