~Y/N's POV~

The perfect day finally came for me to take Gary and George to the track. My guilt got the better of me, they were young boys who were just a little too rowdy. I had to spoil them to make up for it, there was no was I could get out of this now. Still, it felt like I was gonna die. Fortunately, Hugo would be there, but couldn't help me because he was on a date with his girlfrienddddddd. And I'm not gonna bother him. And I'm also not about to ask my real siblings to help either. We already know how I feel about them.

I watched the boys run around and I wished I had the foresight to put the boys on leashes or something. I bribed them soda and candy to follow me, and I even let them put fake bets on the horses. We found a nice place to sit down.

I was talking them through betting. "You have to pick a horse to bet on. It can't be the same."
"I wanna pick that one."
"No, Gary already picked that one. Pick another."

George sulked before picking a different one. I tried to reassure him that his horse would be a good pick, but he didn't want to hear it. He began to bicker with his brother, even though everything was finalized, and I began to regret getting the boys all that sugar. It was like I was watching them get more hyper each passing second.

"Hey, Y/N," someone called my name. I looked up; trying to search in the direction it came from.

It was some of the newsboys. I tried to act casual, "Hey guys, what's up?"
"Nothin' much. Whos these little fellas?"
"There my brothers, Gary and George. I'm teaching them how to bet."

We ended up making a small betting pool of our own. I was trusted with the money because Al tried to pocket it all twice now. We watched a few races before it got competitive and rowdy.

"Damnit!" and "I told you!" 's chorused through our group after another race. I scolded the ones cursing, I would be in deep shit if either of my brothers brought that language home. I was looking at the results, "Oh my god George, your horse won!"
"What?"
"You win this money George!" I said excitedly, handing him a few coins.

His face brightened up and he began hooting and hollering. "Y/N, can I go buy something? Please?"
"Hey Ike, do you mind watching George? Please?"
"I don't mind at all."

I slipped Ike a couple coins to thank him and watched him and George go down to go buy something. Knowing my luck, my brother would get more sweets and then be hyper until sunrise.

Les, Davey, Romeo, and Specs ended up showing. Les and the twins went off to play almost instantly. "Oh, I haven't seen y'all in forever!" I gave them all big hugs.

We sat down and began talking. It was great to catch up with everyone, i hadn't seen most of them in so long. Davey kept checking his watch. "Hey, isn't Race supposed to be here?" Romeo commented, starting to look at the crowd.
"Yeah. We showed him where we're sitting. Where is he?"

"Maybe he's caught up in something." I shrugged it off, not wanting this conversation to expand.

I began getting very tired very quickly. But George and Gary wanted to stay for a bit more. When they got tired, I packed up our stuff, saying goodnight to everyone. As we began leaving, Race appeared. "Sorry we can't spend more time, we're leaving now, I gotta get these two home," I apologized.

His mouth opened like he had to say something, his face a look of desperation, but I was already pushing my brothers along.

The bothers waved goodbye to the newsboys, getting a whole crowd of people to wave back. I also waved, laughing. Romeo and Sky hollered their goodbyes and most of the guys pulled exaggerated enthusiastic faces. I saw Race's hand go up in a little wave. That's when I grabbed my brothers hands and began pulling them along.
