Family Work

Time had passed, as it does. It doesn't stop and none of us can make it halt.

Ultimately, Race and Y/N pulled apart. They didn't really talk. Y/N didn't go to any races and Race was always working when he saw Y/N. Everything seemed to go to a normal they both had before they met.

Unfortunately, Y/N's normal soon had high tensions with her family. She worked hard for it to seemily be flushed down the drain and all she wanted to do was sleep.

~Y/N POV~

The twins were making a commotion just to be loud at this point. "Come on! Come onnnn!!"

"Shush! I'm not taking you."

"Please," George stomped, pouting.

"No," I replied, pulling the blanket over my head.

The boys started throwing a fit, and then started jumping on my bed. I tried to kick them off, shielding my face from their feet. I was just going to get up and scold them when Gary jumped and came down directly on my stomach and hard. I yelped in pain, shoving him off my bed and hitting him.

I got up, grabbing George's flailing legs and pulling him off my bed, his bum hitting the ground with a thunk, but not that hard of a thunk.

I grabbed with wrists, pulling them into the kitchen. I sat them down at the table. "You will stay right here for the rest of this hour" and think of how you hurt me and your actions! If you even dare more, I will put you on the roof and only bring you in when the rain stops!"

The boys sat there, staring at the table cloth. "I am not taking you two to any races until you apologise profusely and mean it! I really wanted to take you to one, but I am too tired today!"

I heard Betty's footsteps come scurrying down the stairs, her voice already scolding me. "What did you do to the boys now?"

"More like what they did to me."

"You're older, be the bigger person. They're young boys."

"Young boys who don't respect me and my space after I make money to help everyone buy the extra little things that they want!"

Betty rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "Your attitude is nasty and unattractive. If you ever want a husband, you'll have to knock that off."

"Yeah, a here I thought we were supposed to be the bigger people."

Her face scrunched up before relaxing. "I'll take care of the boys and make sure they don't bother you."

I nodded, saying a little thanks - well a mumble - and trudging back to my room. I flipped on the bed. I layed there, listening to the patter of rain against the house. I imagine that the track was too muddy and the races cancelled anyways.

I felt bad. I felt bad for the boys, having to wait. I understood how much they wanted to go. I did too. But I wanted it to be dry.

And I also hoped that I could magically fix everything between Race and I before going back out to the track. But I couldn't. It boiled and burned my insides, and I bubbled over. The water left hot trails down my face, coming to a small rest before dropping off and leaving little puddles on my sheets. I heard the door creak. I looked up to see Eddie, who was pushing Gary and George into the room. The boys came up to my bed, mumbling small apologies. I nodded and gave a partial smile that fell the second it went on. They walked out.

Edward still stood next to the door way. "What do you want?" I asked, already reaching for my coin purse.

He came and sat on the edge of my bed. "Or are you here to tell me that I was wrong and stupid?"

"Nope. I'm just here to be a brother. Our parents don't care. And we've all been leaning on you as a crutch. Way too much. And, I feel that we're disconnected. Like we've driven you away."

I shrugged, "I can't blame you guys. We're all kids."

Edward nodded. He pushed his hands through his hair. His knee bounced up and down. "Y/N, I'm really sorry."

"Yeah, I am too," I agreed, "I think I'm going to go where my real family is now."

Edward's shoulders slumped even more. "I understand. I honestly think we should all go where we don't have as much stress. Go take a break."

I wasn't asking or wanting his permission, but whatever made him feel good and I'm control or whatever.

I pulled myself out of the bed, grabbing my bag and hurrying to the front door. I threw my coat on and ran for the tailor shop. The rain and wind was unrelenting. I trudged through, slipping and catching myself.

The storm picked up and it didn't help that I could still feel my throbbing gut after the boys jumped on me. But I kept on the way to the shop.

Once I reached the door, I fumbled with the keys until the door opened. And I saw Hugo. "Hey, can I crash here?"
"Of course."

He let me in, locking the door behind.

I set my stuff down and looked at a project Hugo was doing. He was struggling to sew. He was trying to impress a girl by sewing her little sister a doll. So I had to teach him, using the scraps of fabric. Until he got one he deemed as fancy and put it in a really fancy box and wrapped it with our light blue ribbon. I had to show him how to tie it and eventually he got a professional looking now to go along.

Once we finish we went to Maurice to get some stew. And I remembered what it was actually like to have a sibling. An actually loving one. Then I did feel guilty about leaving. But it wasn't the best idea for me to stay anyways.

Anyway, now Hugo and I were fighting over who got the slightly different spoon. Hugo finally got it, but I laughed it off. I was content enough being with my happy family. But that was a pretty cool spoon.
