there was nothing more relaxing than sitting on the beach watching and listing to the waves roll forwards and back at night where there was only moonlight to light the sky

at least according to sonic the hedgehog

it was one of his daily routines after a hard day's work, and well needed when attacking and dodging robots all-day

he didn't like water, that was a well-known fact

but it didn't mean he couldn't enjoy the beaches wonders

but a crack of a sudden twig crunching soon brought his resting mind to a stop

opening his eyes and getting on his feet he zoomed behind the tree he was leaning against

there wasn't anything there

well except the branch that was snapped in two

looking around he saw nothing

it was just him and the twig

"I must just be paranoid" he laughed sheepishly

but that didn't stop him from running back to his and his brother's hut

he was going so fast he did not catch sight of the piercing vibrant yellow eyes staring at him from above the tree he was once laying against

it was soon morning but that didn't stop sonic from trying to go back to sleep

"come on sonic, knuckles said his friend was paying a visit!" tails said as he pulled sonics leg to get him out of his bed

"wait, what friend?" sonic asked a bit more alert than he probably intended

"Seriously! he's been talking about them for weeks, he really wants us to meet them so get up already" tails commanded as he finally yanked his leg in full strength causing him to fly to the other side of the room

"ok..ok I'm up" he yelled dizzily as he rubbed his poor head

Amy was waiting for them outside as they began to walk to the centre of town

"I still don't know why knuckles have kept them a secret from us, he hasn't even told us their name or anything" Amy wondered although quite excitedly

"he probably wants to keep it a surprise, the only thing he's really told us about them is that they've known each other since they were kids and apparently were in a group with vector" tails explained

while tails and Amy discussed the reasons for the secrets sonic was lost in his own thoughts

(could this "friend" be the reason for last night) he wondered

his thoughts being interrupted by hearing tails ask.... something

"what do you think sonic?" tails asked

sonic stood still not sure what to say

so instead he just made an "err" noise

"forget it tails, he wasn't paying attention," Amy said as she rolled her before continuing with "beside it doesn't matter, we are here now"

and if the big crowd wasn't enough to indicate that they soon heard the shouts of their strongest member shouting out their names

"guys, where have you been!" he asked excitedly although his eyes showed some anger

"sorry knuckles, but this one wanted to stay in bed for 12 more hours," Amy said as she pointed her fingers to sonic who merely shrugged

"well it doesn't matter, come I'll introduce you to him," he said as they made their way through the crowd
