Chapter 7

Finn taught Kriss a boundary spell without Freya's knowledge. "Only you will be able to say who stays and who goes," he explained to her after it was complete, "We will keep this from my sister until my brothers arrive." They stood in front of a table in their closet where they set everything up. He stood behind her as she finished then pulled her closer.

"Is Mrs. Clark coming to invite them in?" Kriss asked even though she knew the answer. He kissed her cheek and she turned to face him.

"She'll be here within an hour and so will they. Don't show them fear but don't be too arrogant. I understand they can be vexing, especially Niklaus, but you cannot use magic. If they don't view you as a threat they will as a nuisance and they've killed for less." Finn put their foreheads together and she could feel his anxiety. His brothers drove him mad and she knew it. The doorbell rang but he didn't want to move. Kriss grabbed his neck and pulled him in for a kiss. Their lips met and didn't part until whoever was at the door rang it multiple times. He groaned and sped away.

Kriss walked down the stairs with a human pace to observe them before joining. Elijah wore a suit as usual and Niklaus was in jeans and a t-shirt. Mrs. Clark stood in between the brother at the door. She walked in, her eyes in a haze. "Will you invite these kind gentlemen in then go home?" Finn compelled her.

"Please come in," she said then walked past them and went out the door. They both tried to enter but were pushed back by the boundary spell. Elijah raised in eyes in surprise and Klaus looked annoyed.

"What is this, brother?" Klaus asked.

"Love, you can come down now," Finn called out for her and she used her vamp speed to join him at the door. He wrapped his arms around her possessively, "I am fully open to being a family and peace. But, I do know you so I had to have a backup plan. Krissette has set a boundary spell around the house. She decides who can come in and who gets kicked out. Any violence against her, you will be expelled in seconds." He kissed Kriss on the temple.

"Come in, Elijah. It's nice to see you again," Kriss said and the edges of the door went fuzzy. He stepped in and Kriss moved out of Finn's arms to give him a small hug as he kissed her on the cheek.

"And what about me?" Niklaus asked from the other side of the door.

"It's nice to meet you, Klaus. You are invited in," Klaus raced in with vampire speed and wrapped his hands around Kriss' neck. She gasped for breath as Finn shouted out for her.

"Seems like this is a problem that can be fixed very easily," Klaus said as Elijah held back Finn who was falling apart.

"Please. Brother. No." Finn cried out. Freya rushed into the room and threw Klaus into a wall shattering the mirror that hung there. Kriss tried to catch her breath and control her anger. Instead of going after Klaus, she bent down near Finn who was in tatters. He sobbed and his tears shook his heavy body.

"I'm right here," she said with a raspy voice. "I'm not going anywhere." She pulled him to her and cradled him until he relaxed.

"That fact remains to be seen," Niklaus said while dusting the mirror shards off.

"Always an overreaction, Klaus," Freya said to him then looked to Elijah, "I expected better from you."

"I just wish to understand why we are going through all this trouble," Elijah said.

Kriss was beginning to get angry. They spoke as if Finn and she weren't there. Discussing their fate like the choice was between them and not the couple themselves. She began to ignore the words coming out of their mouths and tried to concentrate to bring Finn back from his edge of madness. Things were going so well. He was playing the part of the perfect brother and still, it wasn't enough for them. "Finn. I need you to come back to me. I can't live without you either," she kissed his cheeks until she saw him again and looked up to see his siblings staring at her.
