Finn was so surprised at the woman's use of magic. He had never heard of such a thing. Except for his niece of course, but she was one of a kind. He sat in his little apartment full of weapons and blood bags. Finn pulled out his cellphone and made a call to his favorite sibling. "I'm glad to hear from you even though it's not to check on us," Freya told him.

"How do you know that, dear sister?" he asked.

"You've been gone so long that it gave me peace. Then I heard the rumors that people think our father has returned and is hunting vampires. But I know he is not alive so it must be you."

"Only the ones who don't know when to stop."

"You believe they all don't know when to stop. Why did you call?"

"Have you ever heard of a vampire that can do magic?" Finn asked and stared out of the fuzzy window.

"There was a small population of special witches turned in Mystic Falls. They were all killed."

"Is it not possible that one escaped."

"No. What is it? Do you think you've found such a person?"

"Not a person. A monster. One I can't kill easily and that makes me nervous." he told her and went to grab a knife off his dresser.

"Have you made any friends yet?" Freya asked him with concern.

"Like a human?" Finn asked in disgust.

"Or a witch? Or a vampire? Werewolf? You have to move on, Finn. Stop hunting vampires every night and go out."

"I hate the music of today. It grinds my ears."

"Any excuse. Just go to a dirty dive bar. Drink a bourbon or six and forget about killing for one night." Freya said, "And be careful around the Heretic. You can't die but I know magic packs a punch."

"Yes, sister."

"I love you, Finn."

"You too," Finn said quickly and hung up. Often times he found himself jealous of his sister and her immortal witch body. If only he was given the choice. If only he could feel magic running through his body again.

Finn listened to his sister and walked in the first bar not playing the crappy music. It wasn't jazz but some low music Finn had never heard before. It wasn't unpleasant so he went inside. Finn walked to the bar only to see the female hybrid from a few nights ago. She looked up and her smile dropped when she saw him. Quickly, she recovered and walked over to him with a sweet smile. For the general public, it would seem she was moving her lips. Only a vampire could hear her words.

"Gonna try and kill me again?" she asked him. Finn kept a straight face and spoke at a normal tone.

"Bourbon. Your best. Neat," he told her plainly.

"Did you want to open a tab?" she replied and he nodded. When he received his drink, Finn went to sit at a table in the shadows where he could see the whole room. He tried to be diligent but his eyes always wandered back to her. She flirted with the man in front of her. Finn hated that everyone could see a woman's body in the clothes of today. Men ogled much. Finn noticed she used compulsion when they got the bill and he listened to her words.

"You're going to give me twenty-five percent tip," she said and dilated her pupils. The man nodded like a zombie and signed his check before leaving. In one second, she was at the bar and in another, she stood in front of him.

"Isn't it a bit dangerous to use vampire speed in a public area?" he asked her, trying not to look at the low cut top or the charms that hung low, sitting right before her-.
