They weren't in a rush to leave the city. A peace set in and the witches seemed to leave them all alone. Kriss continued to school Haydee but September was quickly approaching and they needed to decide where to put her for her Senior Year. They spoke to the siblings about the dangers ahead and the threat of war. The entire family minus the children and Klaus stood around the living room.

"So you want me to believe that the world's witches are gathering to get rid of Siphoners? On Esther's word?" Freya asked in disbelief and leaned back in her chair. It was not unknown how she felt about the mother who gave her away to a cruel aunt.

"I understand your feelings but she wasn't wrong. And mother has always tried to keep her children safe the only way she knew how," Finn defended her and Kriss knew that would get them nowhere.

"This is the same woman who turned us into vampires because she didn't want to ever lose us. She's always been a bit dramatic," Rebekah added.

"And I'm not disagreeing with you. But, I talked to my mother last night and Esther wasn't the only witch he spoke with. Alina Jacquet was my ancestor from New Orleans," Kriss explained, "She told Finn that the witches are coming for me and anyone with more potential magic than them. That means me. It means Haydee. It could even mean Freya and Hope in the right or wrong circumstances. For crying out loud, you're both pretty much immortal witches same as I. Same as Haydee might become." She said the last words with shaky breaths. It scared her to think that Haydee would die and not of old age.

They separated that night and Finn spoke to her in their room. "Did you call Alaric?" she asked him to interrupt his lecture about his mother. He was sitting in bed.

"I have not. I was going to have Freya do it. I have quite a delicate relationship with the citizens of Mystic Falls as it is," he told her. Kriss finished getting undressed then crawled into the covers beside him.

"Understandable. I don't know how you can get them all to take this seriously, but I believe you. Whatever you think is right for our family I'm on board," Kriss cradled into his arms and he kissed her temple.

"I knew you would be. Let's get some rest," Finn said and moved down on the bed. They slept peacefully for what seemed like mere moments before there was a knocking at the door. Kriss groaned, finally getting some peace felt good.

"I hope whoever is knocking at the door isn't human because I'm hungry," Kriss muttered as she swung her legs and got out of bed. She looked back at Finn who was still slack-jawed on the bed. Kriss walked over and opened the door.

"I think I might be starting to believe your story," Freya said. Kriss held up one finger and shut the door again. She grabbed a robe out of the closet and went out the door.

"What happened?" Kriss whispered.

"I just got a call from Mystic Falls. Twin Siphon children were attacked by four witches and two vampires. Stefan says their dead now but Alaric is freaking out," Freya said as they walked down the hallway and to the stairs.

"Seems like they're okay now. Good for them," Kriss said and tried not to hold any grudges and see the bigger picture.

"But it means Finn was right and they're going after all Siphoners. They'll be coming for Haydee," Freya said and Kriss felt her heart beating practically in her mouth.

"So what do we do?"

"I've offered them protection here. But, they've refused. Something about not wanting to move to a city overrun with witches, vampires, and werewolves," Freya said and rolled her eyes.
