"Stop!" Kriss called out and the girl dropped her hand quickly "Why are you here?" The girl was a few shades lighter than Kriss with curly blonde hair and a duffel bag next to her.

"My spell told me to come here. Please, my father said to give you this," She pulled a crumpled envelope out of her bag. Kriss reached her hand past the barrier to grab it.

"Why don't you come in?" Kriss offered her and Finn tightened his arm around her. She put her hand on his arm and squeezed.

"It's okay," she whispered just loud enough for him to hear. The three of them walked into the living room and Finn gestured to the chair. The girl sat down awkwardly and Kriss opened the letter. Before starting to read it, she looked up at the anxious Siphoner witch.

"I'm Krissette and this is Finn. What's your name, sweetie?" Kriss asked her and gestured to him. He waved slowly and the girl pushed some hair off her face.

"Haydee. Haydee Boudreaux," she answered in a small voice, "I'm from Salem Oregon. My mother was a part of the Trial Coven."

"It's nice to meet you Haydee. What about your father?"

"He's human. He bought me a bus ticket and said my mom wanted me to be here." Kriss opened the letter and read it. It was short. Mentioned her name, her mother's coven, him being unable to help her, and her mother's last wishes. Kriss handed the letter for Finn to read and studied the girl.

"I still don't understand? I'm a vampire. Hardly qualified to take care of a kid I don't even know," Kriss crossed her arms in front of her.

"I'm used to not being wanted," Haydee said. She stood up and picked up her bag.

"Wait!" Finn said and walked in front of her, "Why don't we get you something to eat ?" He looked back at Kriss and she nodded. He was her worry, on her own, it wouldn't take a second thought. But she wasn't just her anymore. Kriss got up too.

"And some sleep. I will show you to the guest room and Finn can get you food. Do you like pizza?" Kriss took the bag from Haydee and motioned to the hallway.

"Just cheese, please," she said. Kriss looked back at Finn who was on his phone, probably ordering the pizza.

Kriss walked Haydee to one of the two downstairs bedrooms. The one that wasn't used by Niklaus. It was a decent setup, Queen bed, a desk, dresser, and a bookcase along with a couple of paintings Finn liked. They were from the 1200s so it makes sense. "Nice place," Haydee said. Kriss put the bag on the dresser and leaned back on it.

"Not mine. Well, I guess its kind of mine, too. But I didn't pay for it. I couldn't pay for it. I'm a bartender," Kriss rambled, "Sorry I'm kind of nervous."

"You're not the one staying with two vampires," she mentioned and touched her face again.

"Touche," Kriss sighed, "This bedroom shares a bath. Don't go into the other room. It hasn't been cleaned since it's last tenant and he was kind of a slob." Haydee nodded and walked over to touch the bed."What happened to your mom?" Haydee didn't look at Kriss, she gazed at the bed or the furniture, even a wall to avoid eye contact.

"Cancer," she said simply, "I was staying with my father but he's not really good at the whole dad thing or the whole witch thing." Haydee stayed silent for a moment, deciding what to say, "When she was dying, she gave it to me."

"Gave you what?" Kriss asked. Haydee looked up for once and into her eyes.

"Her magic. All she had left. Said she didn't need it anyway." Haydee's eyes started brimming with tears leading to loud sobbing. Kriss took the girl in her arms and Haydee laid her head on her chest.
