Haydee's first couple weeks at school flew by. The adults in her life were still trying to find the last supernatural before putting up the boundary. Haydee made it her personal responsibility to find the last one at school. But she was no closer than they were. Vera made things easier. She was quite overwhelming but it was less of a task to hang out with her. Although, she kept asking to come over and the thought made Haydee nervous. "Witchy bitchy!" Vera called out down the hallway as Haydee grabbed her books out of her locker. They had two more classes then she had to be home to learn the boundary spell.

"Say it louder, I don't think they heard you in Guam," she muttered as Vera approached. Vera caught up to her and linked their arms.

"So, what's after school? Wanna study at the Grill?"

"My parents keep me on a pretty tight schedule. I have private lessons at home," Haydee explained.

"What kinds of lessons?" Vera asked. They walked towards the classrooms as the hallway began to clear out. Haydee could see Anders watching them from the other end of the hallway.

"Languages and such. They expect a lot from me. I have to get to Calc. See you later, V," Haydee said and walked into an open door.

She walked out of the class an hour later and ran into Anders waiting for her. "We should get out of here," he told her and pushed himself off the wall. Haydee rolled her eyes and walked down the hallway.

"I have soccer."

"It's not even in season yet. Which means you'll just be running laps. Come on," he said and led them towards the door. Haydee weighed her options and thought she should go with him just to find out more for her family's sake.

"Where would we go?"

"I have an idea,"

It took them twenty minutes to pull up to a parking lot. Anders got out of his Honda sports car and started walking towards a dirt trail. Haydee didn't know why she followed him. This move was what started serial killer movies. She stopped before stepping on the dirt with her boots. "I'm not hiking. I don't have the attire or urge," Haydee told him. Anders raised his eyebrows at her and walked back.

"Then I'll carry you," he said and lifted her over his shoulder. Haydee was shocked and didn't know what he was doing while the breath left her lungs.

Seconds later she heard the sounds of a waterfall. Anders rushed to put her down and she slapped him, her palm turning Siphon red. "What is wrong with you? I should've known you were a vampire. You're so arrogant," she snapped at him then looked to the waterfalls. It took her breath away for a moment.

"I know. It's a beautiful sight, Mother Nature," he told her but with a British accent, "Sorry about the rough trip."

"It's fine," she muttered then her eyes widened, "Since when do you have an accent?"

"Makes it easier to fit in at school when you don't have one,"

"The lies you tell. You'd have women falling at your feet,"

"Which would be a bad idea for someone trying to stay under the radar," he said and she nodded.

"So who the fuck are you?"

"Anders Vale, at your service,"

"And you died when?" Haydee asked curiously.

"About six months before I moved here," he answered but Haydee thought something was off. It was a lie and she knew it.

"What happened?"

"I was playing lacrosse. Got into an accident and at the hospital, they tried to save me with vampire blood. Didn't work as you see. Well, not like they wanted," he said with a smirk. More lies. Or at least half-truths, Haydee decided.
