Having Haydee as a house guest was better than he thought it would be. Kriss and Finn took turns cooking for her. But, they realized that she needed more. Kriss dropped a few shifts to spend more time with both of them. When she was at work, it gave Finn time to spend with Haydee. He figured out she really loved flowers and started putting more in the house.

Haydee walked into the kitchen a week later and seemed really upset. "What's wrong?" Finn asked. Kriss was at work again and it was up to him to take care of her.

"Why do they always wilt so quickly?" Haydee asked and looked at the vase.

"Maybe we'll plant some in the back garden. When you cut flowers, they always die eventually. But, if you want, I know a trick." Finn walked to the fridge and took out things to make Haydee a sandwich. He put it together quickly as she reached out to feel the flowers.

"Like a special way to cut them?" Haydee asked him and Finn shook his head.

"No, a spell," he said and finished the food then put it on a plate and slid it towards Haydee.

"You know spells?"

"My mother was a witch in a past life. So was I, technically," he said as he cleaned up, "Eat your sandwich and I will show you." Haydee let go of the flowers and did as she was told.

An hour later they were still there with Haydee holding a flower in her hand. She had siphoned magic from Finn and he taught her the words he remembered from memory. "Try it again," he said patiently. She groaned.

"I don't think I can do it."

"It's your pronunciation. Remind me to teach you Latin. And French. Do you need more magic?"

"No. I still feel it.," she whined then sighed. "Okay. Bella la vie a cette fleur, maintenant," Haydee's hand glowed red and the flower began to come back to life. Finn's heart jump and he grinned so wide as Haydee shouted. "Yes."

"I told you that you could do it," he said and she reached over to hug him. Finn tensed at first then relaxed.

He decided that they needed to do more for Haydee. Finn spoke about it one night when he and Kriss were in bed. "We should send her to school. There has to be one around here right?" Finn asked Kriss and she nodded.

"I'm sure of it, let's talk to her about it," Kriss told him and they brought it up the next day. Haydee was so excited since she had never been out of the coven's small school. Luckily, Haydee had packed her birth certificate and papers which made it easy to enroll her in school with them as her emergency contacts. Haydee had been homeschooled so after a test, they decided she was advanced enough to start ninth grade.

Two months later things were going a lot better for all of them. Finn had secretly begun building. He converted the garage into a woodworking workshop without telling Kriss or Haydee. Finn wouldn't go in there very often, just when the girls in his life were out. They shopped or did their magic lessons and Finn would spend his time in the garage. He had only finished one chair and it was pretty sloppy but he planned on learning it all again. Finn started to teach both Haydee and Kriss French and Latin to help with their spellwork. Haydee picked it up quickly and was already having small conversations. Kriss had a harder time.

They practice over breakfast and Finn teased Kriss. "It astounds me that you are such a brilliant witch and lousy with languages. You say the spells perfectly but you don't know what they mean."

"So the flower spell!" Haydee said a light bulb clicking, "It's asking the ancestors to maintain the flower's beauty." She got excited eating her waffles and sitting across from them.
