Old Newish Self
(Lots of time skips)

The morning was bright, the sun shone into the building where I happen to be sleeping. Of course it had to shine in my face, but I felt refreshed for some reason. I felt very light and perfect. Actually, perfect was not the right word, let's just keep it at refreshed.

"Turn the damn light off." Patrick's voice groaned and he shifted in his bed. I sat up slowly making sure to stretch and I see Patrick in the other side of the room, still sleeping. He was half awake though. "Patrick. Wake up. It's morning."

"So? I hate mornings."

I noticed the time was 8 am, we played at 11:15. "We play in three hours." I reminded him and he shot up.

"What are we waiting for, it's time to get ready and eat. Let's head over right now." I laughed as he rushed around the room finding everything he needed. I took my time which aggravated Patrick but he was fine as soon as we saw June already awake.

"Finally," June sighed, "I've been up for hours."

"Of course you have." I muttered as we walked down the hallway of our hotel towards the elevator.

"Where do you think you two are going?" June asked pressing the button to the elevator. We were both confused. "You two," she pointed at us, "are taking the stairs." Our agape mouths and loathe eyes stared at my best female friend as she entered the elevator. "Better hurry, you have to beat me down stairs or you won't get breakfast." The doors closed and Patrick and I looked at each other.

Within and instant, Patrick ran one way and I ran the other towards the two stair exits. It was easier than running down the same set of stairs. We were in the 6th floor so running as fast as possible seemed like a great workout, especially down stairs. Once I reached the bottom, I zoomed o it and towards the elevator, I saw Patrick coming from the other end of the hallway and we stopped in the lobby by the elevator. It opened as soon as we reached it and June stepped out. She spotted us and smiled, "Perfect. Let's go then, I have smoothies and toast."

Out of breath, we followed her.

June decided to drive as we prepared ourselves for today. While drinking my smoothie, I found a box. Once I opened it, I found the jerseys that June had for us. We were called, "Shadows?" I said amused because I knew exactly where she got that name from.

June laughed, "Yeah. Guess where I got the name from?"

"I couldn't imagine." June and I were laughing while Patrick was completely lost.

"Okay, here we are." A lot of time passed since we woke up, it was now 10 o'clock and I was wide awake and ready to play. "There are warm up courts do that's where we'll head to." We both nodded as June parked the car in the crowded parking lot.

After June finally found a spot and we were at the courts, Patrick and I warmed up and ran a few fun drills to get us synced for today. "Okay, remember, today is the only day for this tournament because there are more tournaments through this week. I could only pay for one. So, win today."

Usually people sign up for one of the later days of tournaments because they know it's easier teams due to the fact no one wanting to travel somewhere so early in the summer. It's mostly college and high school student but there are a few graduates playing. "Would Shadows and Champions please make their way to court 4, your match will begin soon."

"Looks like it's time." June laughed.

(Skip to after the first two games they played, it's now 2 in the afternoon)

"Congratulations to Shadow for successfully continuing in the tournament. You have a two hour break before quarter finals." The announcer announced.
