We arrive home from the animal shelter with Milo. I want to tell Dylan that I decided I want to go to Emerson High, but when I looked next door his Jeep wasn't in his drive way. I decide to take Milo for a walk to pass the time by, and hopefully Dylan will be home by the time we're done with our walk.

"Do you want to go for a walk, Milo?" I ask my new dog. And he barks as if he's saying yes.

With his response I attach his leash to his collar and we head out the door. I take Milo to this open patch of land in our neighborhood and we run around and play for what turned out to be 45 minutes. It felt nice to just run around, it cleared my mind.

"That was fun. We should do this every day Milo." I tell him and he just sits in the grass wagging his tail. "Come on, let's go home."

As we're walking down our street I hear a car door shut and I look and see Dylan walking up his driveway.

"Dylan! Wait up!" I yell from down the street. "Come on Milo." I say and we start running down the street towards Dylan.

As I'm running up to him in his drive way I trip on my own feet but luckily Dylan caught me.

"Woah there careful Kacey." He says looking into my eyes. "Hey, who's this big guy?" He says about Milo after helping me up from my embarrassing fall.

"This is Milo. My parents suprised me with a trip to the animal shelter, and we got this guy." I smile and pet Milo's head.

"Well it's very nice to meet you Milo." Dylan smiles and bends down and Milo licks his face. "I think he likes me." He laughs.

"Yeah, it looks like he does." I smile. "The reason I came over here was to tell you that I decided to go to Emerson High!"

"Really? Oh my god that's great Kacey!" Dylan steps towards me and wraps his arms around me in a hug. I can't help but smile and hug him back. We stand there hugging each other for what seems like forever and I don't want him to stop but he pulls away, keeping his arms around me. "I'm so happy that you decided to go to Emerson. You're going to love it." He says to me and I just smile.

As we're standing there staring into each other's eyes, mom opens our front door and yells, "Kacey, it's time for dinner! Oh, hi Dylan!" She waves to him and closes the door.

She always seems to find a way to ruin the moment. I put my hand over my face to hide my embarrassment. "I'm sorry about her." I say looking down. Dylan then lifts my chin with his hand so that our eyes meet. "Hey it's ok. I'll be expecting you Monday morning on my front porch begging me to take you to school." He smiles and hugs me again and I hug him back.

"We'll see about that." I tell him and smile. "Come on Milo."

Before I walk into my house I turn around and I see Dylan is watching me. I wave to him and he waves back as I walk into my house. I never thought I could feel this way about a boy ever since what happened to me, but Dylan changed that.
