"What's your favorite color?" That's the first question he asks me.
"It would have to be burgundy." I tell him.
"Just like your dress."
"Yeah just like my dress. What about you what's your favorite color?"
"Mine is blue. But not any kind of blue, more like a sky blue, yeah that's the kind of blue I like. My Jeep's even that color."
"You have your license? That is so cool. I wish I had mine, but I've never been behind the wheel, so I don't think that will ever happen." I say looking into his eyes.
"Maybe I can give you lessons when we drive to school. You are going to be going to Emerson High right? And since we're neighbors I just figured I could take you to school. Is that alright?" He asks me with a hopeful smile on his face.
"That's very kind of you Dylan but I'm actually going to do Emerson's cyber school program instead. Public school isn't really my thing. But I'd still appreciate those driving lessons sometime."
I can't help but smile when I look at him. I noticed that my nervous feeling has gone away and it has been replaced with I don't know what but I like it.
"That's a deal. But you should really think about coming to Emerson. I think you'd like it." He says with that smile I have grown to like.
"Ok, I'll think about it." I tell him and smile.
He smiles but is silent. His brown eyes looking into my hazel ones. I can feel me blushing. I am not used to being this close to a boy and I have no clue what to do.
Luckily my mom saves me from embarrassing myself by calling me and saying it's time to go. I look at Dylan and smile awkwardly and he smiles and laughs.
"What's so funny?" I say to him.
"Nothing." He says and smiles and is it just me or was he blushing too. "Just remember school starts in two weeks and I hope to see you knocking on my front door begging me to drive you to school."
"Bye Dylan."
As I'm walking up the stairs I look back and our eyes lock as he's waving goodbye to me.
I like him, I really like him, I say to myself.
