Two days have past since we had dinner at the O'Brien's. The past two days I have been thinking about what Dylan offered me. He told me that he would take me to and from Emerson High if I chose to go there instead of cyber school, and now that I think of it, I kinda want to go there. I could use some change in my life, it would keep my mind off of what happened to me. Dylan told me that he thinks I'd really like it there. And well I think I'm going to do it, I'm going to go to Emerson High. I can't help but smile. I need to go tell mom and dad.

I run out my room and down the stairs and into the living room where they are watching TV.

"Mom, dad, can I talk to you for a minute." I ask them.

"Of course honey, is everything alright?" My mom asks me.

"Well, I've been thinking about this for the past couple days, and I've decided that I want to go to Emerson High. I think the change would be good for me." I say, sort of afraid of what they'll think.

And then my dad got a huge smile on his face. "I think that's a wonderful idea sweetie."

"I couldn't agree more." My mom adds. "We'll call the school later this afternoon when we get back."

"Thank you thank you thank you so much! I love you guys!" I say to them as I hug them both. "Wait... When we get back? Get back from where?"

"Well remember how you always wanted to get a dog?" My dad says to me.

The smile on my face keeps getting bigger. "Yes!"

"Your father and I decided that ever since the incident we thought that you would feel more protected if we would get a dog! And not a small one, but a fairly big one." My mom tells me with a smile on her face.

"Oh my god yes! Thank you guys so much!" I hug them again.

"Well shall we be on our way to the animal shelter?" My dad asks mom and me.

"Yes!" My mom and I say together.
Thirty minutes later we arrive at Furry Friends Animal Shelter and we go to the large dogs section of the shelter. I walk by dog after dog, all of them are cute but none of them are the one. I continue down the isles and I finally see him. A brown and white Saint Bernard sitting nicely in his stall looking at me with his big brown eyes. I walk infront of his stall and see that his name is Milo.

"Mom! Dad! Come over here!" I yell.

"Aww, Milo how cute!" My mom says.

"Can we see him?" I ask my parents.

"Of course." My dad says. "Excuse me miss," he says to a near by worker, "may we please see Milo?"

"Sure!" The worker says.

She takes Milo out of his stall and leads us to an empty room.

"Take as long as you'd like. I'll leave a leash in here too if you guys would like to take him for a walk." The worker tells us then leaves us with Milo.

I take a seat on the floor while my parents sit on the bench. Milo comes right over to me and starts licking my face. I grab a toy from the basket and throw it across the room. Milo runs after it and comes running back to me with it and drops it onto the floor and barks.

"You like to play don't you?" I laugh and look up at my parents who are smiling at me. "How old did it say he is?" I say to my dad.

"It said that he is two. He has a nice long life ahead of him." My dad says smiling.

"Can we take him for a walk?" I ask.

"Yeah let's go." My mom says.

I grab the leash and attach it to Milo's collar. We then head out to the walking trail the shelter provides for trial walks and start walking. Milo is nice and calm and walking right by my side. This feels so right. Other people are walking rescued dogs too and Milo remains calm the whole time.

We return back to the room and I let Milo play with the toys while my parents and I talk.

"I probably know your answer, but what do you think of Milo?" My mom asks me.

"He's perfect." I say with a big smile. "What do you guys think of him?"

"I think he would be a great addition to our family." My dad says and my mom nods in agreement.

There's a knock on the door and the worker comes in. "So how's everything going?"

"We have decided that we'll take Milo." My mom tells her.

"That's wonderful news! I'll go get the paperwork right away!" She says, and within a minute she's back and my parents are signing all the papers for the adoption. Before I knew it, all the signing was done and he was ours.

"Welcome to the family Milo." I say and give my new dog a hug.
