A/N: I don't think that I've mentioned this yet, and this is super old news, but that Clone Wars Season 7 Trailer is continuing to blow my mind every time that I watch it. And the premier is two weeks away?! Holy crap! I grew up with these characters, and to see that they have come this far 🥺 I guarantee you that I WILL cry an ugly cry when Rex comes on screen for the first time in 7 years.
💫
"Where you're going will make it difficult for us to make contact." Mace's sudden forewarn caused Dakota to pivot back around. She cut a glance over her shoulder, spotting him between the rays of sun that flooded through the open walls.
The group she walked with continued forward towards the Temple hangar. A transport ship was being prepared for them, and soon they would jet off across the cosmos to rescue the captured Jedi Master, along with his small group of commanders.
Rex was the only one to slow his pace and wait for her. He stood by a far column, watching as she lingered in the corner of the corridor, engaged in a conversation with her master.
"You'll need to relay all transmissions through Skywalker's droid." Mace informed.
"I assumed so." She leaned against the tall column that stretched up towards the high ceilings. It bathed half of her in shadows, leaving the other half in light. "You'd better pick up when I call."
"I'd prefer to watch the line blink." He smirked softly, raising a brow. "Isn't that what you always do?"
"Ahh." She rested her temple to the column, crossing her arms with an impressed smile. "So now the master is learning from the apprentice."
"I would say one never stops learning." He fought to keep his straight and calm composure. She shrugged her shoulders in agreement, smiling subtly. "Take care of yourself— and the others."
"I will, Master."
"I know."
With a quick dip of her head, she was gone. Mace stood and watched her go. She joined the Captain of the 501st and the two disappeared into the sunlit distance. Tasking her and the other Jedi with such a mission was a daunting ask. He knew it.
This mission could either be a thrilling success— adding yet another accolade to the 501st and 212th battalions, or an utter travesty, with four of the best Jedi Generals lost to the Separatists.
Mace didn't let himself think about it. Not as she was already on her way to do what was asked of her.
"You didn't have to wait." Dakota said, rubbing her jaw with her palm as she strolled next to the Captain.
