The Umbaran clouds parted just enough for her to see up through to the dark sky. Bright stars dotted the purple cosmos, bringing her the slightest sense of peace despite the circumstances.
A single shooting star appeared in her sights just before it vanished just as quick out of view. She wasn't sure how long she had been standing there outside of the air base, maybe a few minutes or maybe an hour. The world around her seemed timeless as the later doses of pain medication spread throughout her sore body.
She hadn't fought that hard one on one in a long time. Her ferocity was rather frightening, but Krell was prepared to kill every single one of them. There was no way that she could let that happen.
An armored blurry figure appeared at her side, and she slowly tore her gaze away from the stars to see him. It took her a moment to acknowledge who it was.
"Kix, go help Jesse, we've captured General Krell." Rex informed, removing the helmet from his head. She blinked slowly, coming back to what remained of her reality. Kix was there, for how long he'd been standing with her, she wasn't sure. Bandages wrapped around her torn flesh, and small patches clung to the gash on her temple. Again, she didn't recall when Kix had fixed her up.
"Yes sir," Kix nodded, heading off out of sight.
Rex took a quick look around, checking to see that no one was near before putting his hand to her wrist. "Talk to me. Are you okay?" he asked worriedly.
She rubbed her hand over the bandages, contemplative. "I'm tired." She exhaled while admitting, her body seeming to shrink in on itself.
"I know," His heart constricted. "I made contact with Yularen's cruiser. He's on the way."
"I'm not leaving you." She asserted, purple and yellow bruises already forming around her eyes and on the corners of her mouth.
"We're all leaving. Umbara is ours."
"How many more did we lose?" she couldn't help but ask. Those who remained were carrying lifeless bodies back towards the base. From the looks of it, many of them had lost their lives by the blades of Krell. Her jaw tightened at the sight of it.
Rex shook his head. "Don't worry about that right now, alright? We've got him. Fives and Jesse—" he nodded towards the airbase tower. "—are taking him down to the cells."
She needed to accept that this was the way it was. Krell was no longer a threat, at least at the moment. After all that he had done to the 501st, it was an utter Force-ordained miracle that he was caught.
