The sun rose up over the horizon. A small boy with blonde hair awoke. He saw the light and jumped out of his bed. Running down the hallway of the Sunset arms, his feet slapped each time it made contact with the floor. He grabbed the railing and carefully went down the stairs, jumping the last two before racing off to the kitchen.

Busting through the door, he started yelling. "GRANDMA GRANDMA!!! THEY'RE COMING HOME TODAY!!!"

"Well, good morning. Are you hungry?" Grandma Stella was fixing breakfast for the whole building.

"Who can eat at a time like this? Ooo, you're making bacon?" The little boy could smell the porky goodness.

"Eat up Craig. You want to be well fed and ready when your parents come home today." Grandma Stella passed a plate of bacon and eggs.

Grandpa Miles enter the kitchen with the newspaper. "Oh my, someone's up early."

"Hey Grandpa! They're coming home today!!!" Craig tried to yell with food in his mouth.

"Yes, yes I heard. Are you excited?" Grandpa Miles sat down to eat his breakfast.

"Of course! Today I get to meet her!" Craig smiled with specks of food on his face.

Both of his grandparents chuckled at his antics. All of them sat down to eat their breakfast. Only the sound of the newspaper pages turning and clanking of silverware on plates filled the room. It was interrupted by the sound of the doorbell.

"Oh my, I wonder who that could be?" Grandma Stella asked Craig.

"I'll go see!" Craig grabbed his last piece of bacon and rushed to the door.

The doorbell rang once more before Craig made it to be able to open it. When he finally reached the door handle and opened the door, three people he knew very well stood in the doorway.

"Auntie Olga! Grandpa Bob! Grandma Mirie! You're here!" Craig bounced clutching the bacon in his little hand.

"How's my favorite nephew?" Olga scooped him up and hugged him tight.

"They're coming home today!" Craig wiggled in his aunt's arms.

"They'll be here any minute I just talked to Arnold on the phone. They were already packed in the car." Bob informed Stella and Miles who just entered the foyer.

"That's amazing. I can't wait." Stella smiled like a young girl.

"I know. It's so exciting!" Miriam agreed.

"Now let's get out of the doorway and get comfortable on the couch. I don't want to crowd Helga when she gets back." Miles motioned for everyone to make their way into the living room.

Idle chit chat and low murmurs filled the living room. Craig could barely stay still. Considering he was 5 years old. He was containing his excitement pretty well. It wasn't long before the front door to the boarding house opened.

"We're home." A male voice called out.

"Daddy!" Craig rushed towards the voice.

When he rounded the corner, Craig came to an abrupted halt. Standing in the entryway was his father, Arnold, and his mother, Helga.

"Mommy! Daddy! You're home!" Craig yelled while he vibrated with excitement.

"Shhhh. sweetie she's sleeping." Helga moved something in her arms.

Craig calmed down. He crept over and tried to look at what his mother was holding. Noticing his son couldn't see, Arnold pick Craig up to get a better view.

"Craig, I'd like you to meet your baby sister, Nicole." Arnold pulled the blanket back and showed Craig his little sister.

"She's so pretty." Craig whispered.
