Helga got out of the school and home with no incidents. Luckily, the bathroom wasn't close to the front door, so she missed the first bus. The one that everyone takes. So, she took the later bus that didn't have any of the students who know her truth. It wasn't until she got through the door at home that she wished she took longer.
Olga ran and knocked the wind right out of Helga. "Baby Sister!! I missed you!!"
Helga struggled against Olga. "Yeah, yeah, Criminy. Let go Olga."
"I can't believe my Baby Sister is going to high school next year. Growing up so fast." Olga couldn't contain her tears and just let them loose.
"Geez, Olga enough with the tears. I'm 14 years old. I've stopped being your Baby Sister a long time ago." Helga finally managed to get out of Olga's grasp to head to the kitchen.
With Olga here that meant Miriam went shopping. There was real food in the house for the first time since the last time Olga was here. Tonight, she will eat like a king. It was the only good thing about Olga coming home.
"You will always be my Baby Sister." Olga followed Helga to the kitchen.
"Olga, Dinner's ready!" Big Bob yelled.
"Oh Daddy. Dinner looks wonderful!" Olga sat down and just dished out the food to everyone.
"Anything for you Olga." Miriam sat at her seat trying not to pass out.
"Not this time, Mummy. It's Helga's day." Olga passed her mother a plate full of food.
"Helga's? Why is it Helga's day?" Bob reached out for a plate of his own.
"She's graduating 8th Grade tomorrow!! She'll start high school in the fall." Olga looked confused to why her parents would forget.
"Oh, that's right. Been really busy at the store. Switching out Beepers for cell phones all week." Bob said between bites of food.
Olga accepted the excuse without much fuss then handing a plate to Helga as she continued. "Well, I have a surprise for my Baby Sister."
Bob and Miriam barely looked up from their food, but Helga stopped completely. Olga's surprises never really meant anything good. Last surprise was her staying and trying to ruin her life. Helga was not okay with this.
"I think Helga should spend the summer with me in New York!" Olga looked so happy.
"That's a wonderful idea, Honey." Miriam smiled.
"That's our Olga. Smart as a whip." Bob bellowed.
"What?" Helga did not like this plan.
"Oh, it will be so great. We can see some Broadway Shows and I can help you pick out your new style for high school. Won't it be wonderful?" Olga was bouncing in her seat.
"What about my life here? I have friends and..." Helga stopped because her and Arnold weren't really anything right now.
"Oh poppycock. They will see you when you get back." Miriam started making herself another drink.
"But Miriam...." Helga tried to protest.
"No Buts little lady. You need some time away from all the bad influences here. Like that boy Artie." Bob finished his second helping and was getting ready to watch the Wheel.
"It's Arnold, Bob. Plus, he's not a bad influence." Helga put her dishes in the sink and tried to leave.
"Is this Arnold guy trouble?" Olga worried. "I remember a little Arnold in your class that I help tutor once. He seemed nice."
