Taytum's POV
When I pull into the parking lot of the school, I notice Chance's car. Once I kill the car, I climb out. As soon as I open up my door, I can hear booming music. It's undoubtedly coming from Chance's car. Girls are walking past his car, staring at him curiously. Chance isn't paying them any attention.
Chance is sitting on the hood of his car with smoke rolling out of his mouth. The smell is evident to what he is smoking. He has a flat bill hat on that is black on it. He's wearing the same black leather jacket. His black T-shirt fits him snuggly. The black jeans he's wearing have rips in them and match his boots. The sunglasses he has on are so dark you can't see his eyes. He has the same cross necklace on.
It's not like he's trying to draw attention to himself, but he definitely is. Guys are walking past him, fist-bumping him. He's kind of bouncing his head to the old rap song, which is strange. Some rap is pretty good, but this sounds very old. I'm pretty sure it's Eminem. I don't know a lot of people who listen to this kind of music, so it holds my attention.
A few guys that I recognize as some of the trouble makers of school approach Chance. Chance lifts his head and sees them. He speaks to them a little, but then his gaze meets mine. A small smile spreads across my face. Chance gives me a crooked smile in return. I'm so going to be late for class. "Tay, what the fuck are you staring at?" Chapin interrupted my ogling.
"Enjoying the view," I chuckled, knowing there is noway Chance can hear me over his loud music. Chapin looks at Chance and laughs at me.
"What kind of shit is he listening to?" Chapin asked.
"I'm not sure, but I like it. Come on, let's go," I gesture toward the school. We walk quickly toward the front doors of the school. On my way to my locker, I notice Adam staring intently at me, but I ignore him. Chance comes into class, sitting down behind me and pokes me in the side. I jump slightly and turn back to look at him. He bites his lip, his eyes dance even though he is trying to hide his amusement. "What are you doing later?" He asked.
"Well, there is a game tonight and party afterward. I'm kind of expected to go. Why?" I arched a brow.
"Never mind just was going to see if you wanted to work on the assignment," He shrugs.
"Tomorrow night?" I asked.
He shakes his head. "I'm busy tomorrow. Maybe the weekend."
"Okay," I murmured then turned around to listen to the teacher. I turn back after a moment. Chance stares at me in confusion. "I like that song."
He chuckles quietly and nods in agreement. The rest of the day flows by slowly. I'm not sure if it's because I want to see Chance again or if its because I'm anxious about the game. Instead of coffee, I decide to stay at school. It's tacos for lunch. After Chapin and I are done eating, I decide a cigarette sounds good. "You coming?" I asked Chapin.
"Yup," She said, hooking her arm in mine. We head outside, and that same song from this morning is playing. This time there is a crowd near Chance's car. "What the fuck is that?" Chapin grunted.
In shock, I rush over to the crowd. The yelling is louder than the music. I push my way through the crowd. Chance is in the center of the circle, with three guys attacking him. One of them is Adam. The other two are friends of his. Chance swings at Eli, hitting him in the eye. Eli falls to the ground and groans in pain. Josh jumps onto Chance's back as Adam is coming at him. "Stop!" I shout, pushing my way into the circle. Chance shoves Josh off of him. Chance turns, and Adam swings at Chance. Adam's fist collides with Chance's jaw. Chance's head whips to the side from the force. Chance spits blood out, but he moves toward Adam.
Chance grabs Adam and slams him down on the hood of his car. My jaw drops in horror. Chance punches Adam repeatedly. Chance swings so fast I lose count. I grab onto Chance's shirt pulling him off Adam. It takes all my weight, but Chance finally backs off. Adam comes off the hood of the car. Adam's nose is bleeding, and his lip is puffed up. Adam is undoubtedly going to have a black eye too. I jump between the two boys. "That is enough!" I screech. My chest is rising and falling. Adam glares at me. My back is pressed against Chance's chest, which is rising and falling faster than mine.
"Mother fucker, I don't know who you think you are, but you're picking a fight with the wrong guy!" Chance sneers, moving forward, pushing me forward. Adam moves closer. I'm practically sandwiched between the two boys. Call me, bologna.
"Stop!" I roar.
Adam's gaze meets mine, and he narrows his eyes. "You're so not fucking worth it. He's going to find out what kind of whore you really are," Adam sneers. The crowd clears away as Adam and his friends make their way out of the circle. I slowly turn to face Chance.
"What the fuck was that about?" I breathe.
Chance narrows his eyes at me and purses his lips. "I'll give you one guess, sweetheart," He mutters as his finger brushes my chin. "The last thing I need right now is some bullshit with an ex-boyfriend. I'm not sure what he heard or what you might have said to him, but he's angrier than fuck at me. I don't even know the fucking guy. I don't need drama. Just stay the fuck away from me, Taytum," Chance hisses. He grabs his hat off the ground, placing it on his head. He gets in his car, shutting it off and slamming the door. He storms past me back into the school. I stare after him hurt by what he said and angry as hell at Adam.
It's not as if I intentionally caused anything. "What was that about?" Chapin asked.
"Me," I mutter and begin walking back toward the school. Chapin follows after me but doesn't speak. I'm certain she can feel the tension rolling off me, so she doesn't ask.

We won the football game. I managed not to fall on my face, so I'll call it a success. I'm so angry at Adam. I almost don't even want to dance anymore. I don't want to go to this stinking party, but I promised my friends. The party is at Lane's house. He's a running back for the team.
Lane is pretty cool. He's not really good friends with Adam, but he's cool with him. They tend just to stay away from each other. Jayden and three of his friends come walking into the house. Everyone clears away from them. Chapin has had the hugest crush on Jayden but to chicken to admit it. "There is your man," I giggled in Chapin's ear. Her head snaps up to look at Jayden.
"I do love me a bad boy," Chapin licks her lips, and I laugh. Chapin isn't kidding. She likes bad boys. I never really understood that. I'm not the good girl type, but bad boys tend to be such dicks. My mind immediately goes to Chance. Jayden, Matt, Alec, and Gavin come in. Trailing behind them is Chance to my surprise. Heads are bouncing around; it's almost hard to see them. The music is so loud it's hard even to hear my friends even though we're huddled together. "Speaking of bad boys," Chapin chuckles. "Isn't that yours?"
I snort. "No, he's not. He's angry as hell at me right now."
"Then change his mind," Chapin shoves me toward the direction of the boys. I slam my drink and turn toward her.
"Bitch, I'll do it if you do it," I grunt.
"N-noway," Chapin shakes her head.
"Chicken!" I shout. She flaps her arms like a chicken and shrugs.
"Maybe a few more drinks," Chapin said.
"You're on," I muttered. I'd love to see Chapin admit to Jayden she likes him. I'm not sure how good it'll end, though. Jayden has a no girlfriend policy, and he has never broken it.
